"Lovely afternoon, isn't it Y/n?" Thomas greeted. "Why, yes indeed. Come in!" I insisted. He stepped in and I took his coat so I can put it on the coat rack. "My, what a lovely home you have here." he commented. "Thank you. Dinner is almost ready so please, come take a seat." I showed him to the dinner table, where my parents, Alexander, and Philip where already. Alexander was talking about politics with my father and my mother was just listening. When Alexander saw Jefferson, he looked straight faced. What was going through his mind?
Alexander's POV:
When I saw Jefferson, I wanted to tell him to get out. But then I realized that Y/n wouldn't allow that. Why does she have to be the sweetest girl I've known?
Y/n's POV:
Thomas took a seat next to Alexander. And gave him a face. A face that can only be described as if he was forced to sit next to his worst enemy. He probably hates Alexander, but I want to make them less of enemies. I went back to the kitchen to get the dinner and placed it on the table. I sat next to Alexander, on his other side. And Philip sat next to his grandparents. Angelica was asleep. Alexander and father started talking about politics again. Thomas would sometimes jump in, while mom and I just listened. "If we free the slaves then how are we going to farm?" Thomas took a sip of his wine. "With your bare hands, Jefferson." Alexander snickered. Thomas bumped into his seat and they were kicking at each other's legs. "Hey! No fighting at this table! This is a family dinner, with a friend! Be nice, boys! I thought you were grown men! Looks like Philip and father are the only grown men here! And set a good example for Philip! And if you can't do that, set an example for yourself!" I yelled at them, as I stood up.
Philip's POV:
I'd never seen mommy so mad before. It's scary.
Y/n's POV:
I sat back down "I'm sorry for my temper. It's just that I want everyone to get along." I put a hand to my forehand. "It's okay, darling." Mom comforted me. Alexander touched my hand and wrapped his fingers around mine. We continued to eat dinner like nothing happened and the men went back to talking about politics. "So, Y/n? You ever think you're gonna come back to the cabinet meetings?", Thomas asked. "Maybe," I sighed "I honestly like it when you're there." Thomas confessed. Alexander gave him a glare of anger. "We'll see. I might come sometimes. Depends." I stated. After that, dinner got better. It seemed like my outrage never happened. I made tea and we all sat back down at the table. "My, this tea is delicious", Thomas exclaimed. Alexander stood up from the table, "This was great and all, but I have to get to work." I was about to say something like, Stay, this is a family dinner! And if you don't stay, I'm gonna tie you to your chair! But I decided it wasn't worth it to fight in front of my parents, my son, and a friend. Mama bear wasn't ready for round two of yelling at men like they're kids(author:But they are kids!) "Don't overwork yourself." my father commented. I stared at my tea as Alexander left. "What's wrong, Y/n?" Mom asked me. "It's just, all he does is work. I barely see him." I inform her. "Some advice for you from a wife herself: You should make him take a break," she advised "Come to our estate in Virginia and make him come along." That sparked something in me. "Or just get him another kid." Dad sipped his tea. We all laughed so hard but Philip just sat there with a blank face. "I'll take mom's advice from here on out. You can expect us soon."
"Thank you for the lovely dinner, Y/n. I should get going." Thomas stood up. I walked him out the door. "Thank you for coming." I gave him his coat. "Please, it was my pleasure." he smiled as he walked away with his walking cane. Did I say walk? It was more like a strut. I went back to the table "Philip, it's past your bedtime. You should get to bed." I picked him up. "But I want to stay up with grandpa and grandma." Philip groaned. "We can see grandpa at a cabinet meeting. Or we can go to Virginia to go see them soon." I promised. "Promise?" he asked. "Promise," I confirmed. "Say goodnight to grandpa and grandma." I told him. "Can we please come help you tuck him in?" father begged. "Okay." I laughed. We all walked upstairs as Philip was in my arms. We passed Alexander's office. The door was opened and when we walked by , I smiled. He didn't see at first but he smiled back. We walked to Philip's room. I helped Philip put on his night clothes. Father took Philip from my arms and flew him around the room. He giggled and father put him into his bed and tucked him in. "Goodnight." he kissed Philip's forehead. Mom came to kiss him on his forehead as well, "Sweet dreams." she pushed the curly hair out of his face. I also went towards Philip's bedside "Goodnight, my prince." I kissed him on the forehead "I love you."
We all left his room and went downstairs. "Well, I guess it's time for us to go as well." Mom stated. "I'll see you guys soon," I hugged them. They left and I went back upstairs. I walked into Alexander's office. He didn't move, he was writing, a lot. I wrapped my arms around his neck, gently. I kissed his head, "Please, come to bed." I begged.
"I can't", he told me without looking at me. "Please, you don't even have to sleep, as long as you're there. That would be enough." I petted his hair.
"I'm sorry. Maybe another time. This is super important", he stated.
"And I'm not important to you? More than your work? I get that you're passionate about your work but we are married, we have kids. Shouldn't that be your top priority?" I asked, now walking around the room.
"If I don't get this plan through Congress, it could cost me my job, then I won't have a job to be passionate about!" He exclaimed, this time looking at me, "I'm sorry for raising my voice." he whispered, "let's talk about this", he got up from his chair and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Goodnight Alexander. Enjoy your work." I sighed. I started to walk out the door. He didn't stop me like I thought he would. He went back to his work. As soon as I stepped out I heard him sigh and go back to writing. So I went to bed, all alone, like the usual. It was cold, without him. I remember those nights, before he worked. He would wrap his arms around my waist, he would seem more open. Now he is impossible to convince. Every night is the same. I beg him to stop working and come to sleep. He would always say maybe another time. I changed into my night gown and went to bed. Nowadays, I would hug a pillow to replace his warmth, his presence. I always wake up with no one by my side. It's like he's gone. I feel so lonely. I cry myself to sleep as I realize maybe another time means never. It means I am probably not beautiful or sexy enough for him. But, was I ever?

Alexander's POV:
My Dearest, Angelica,
What do I write about this time? About how I might lose my job? How my kids are? How my wife is? She's all the way in London(author:Damn). So, I mean, what's worth writing when you're in London? Expecting a letter from someone halfway across the world?
Philip and Angelica have been getting bigger by the second, but my job is my mistress, for it takes up my time. Y/n has been begging me lately to take a break, as everyone else recommends. I'm pretty sure you are too. But if I don't get my plan through Congress, I was informed by President Washington that I would no longer have a job. I love my job and my family, but it seems that I have to spend more time with my job. Y/n doesn't like that. Speaking of Y/n, she reminds me of you. She has been going to the cabinet meetings and talking off everyone's ears about slavery and women's rights. And she constantly argues with everyone, even her own father, which kind of reminds me of me. She has grown to be more of a political person. Anyways, how are you and your husband? Are you ever going to come visit us?Sincerely,
A. Hamilton
