That night, I had a nightmare. Alexander and I were on the battlefield, and suddenly, I was shot right in the head. It felt so real, I could feel the warm blood dripping down my skull, the aching part where the bullet hit me. I also felt something warm come up my throat. Blood, coming out of my mouth, thick and red. Then I woke up, drenched in sweat. Alexander was hugging me close to his chest, "Shh, it's gonna be alright. Don't worry, it wasn't real. This is real and you're fine", for some reason, I cried. He let me cry in his arms as he stroked my hair. "I died in my nightmare", I explained. "You kept screaming in your sleep", Alexander stated, "Look around, look around, at how lucky we are to be alive right now", he reached to grab my hand, I grabbed his and squeezed it gently. "Look at where we are", I observed and blushed a little, "Look at where we started", I think back to the time when we first met. "The fact that we're alive, that's a miracle", we said to each other. We let our foreheads touch and stayed silent for a moment. This is perfect. Suddenly, there is a big booming noise, I realize that we are in a war zone and this is actually not as perfect as I said before. I get up and rush to get my gun. "Alexander, I hate to ruin the moment but we have to go", I looked back to see Alexander has stood up. "What are we waiting for?", he smirked. We ran to the base and loaded our guns. They took forever to load and it only took one shot till you have to do that time consuming procedure, again and again. By the end of the day, there were a lot of soldiers wounded, including myself. But don't worry, it was just in the arm. I will survive to see this war end, no matter how long it takes, no matter what it takes. They will tell our story and I will be one of the first woman to fight in a war and hopefully survive. We go to the bar to celebrate our progress and our hard work. "To the Revolution!", Alexander cheered. "To us", I saluted. "To us", he repeated. We clinked our mugs and drank with each other. We went towards my dad's tent. The more drunk we are, the less fear there was. We planned to ask my dad for his blessing so we can get married. We opened the flap of the tent, dad was startled as ever when we entered without knocking. "Hey dad!", I exclaimed, hugging him. "You're drunk", he pointed out. "Yes, I'll leave you two alone", I replied. "Why?", dad asked. "You'll see", I smirked.
Alexander's Pov:
I stood there. Silent, a little nervous. You know, you don't ask someone's father everyday for their blessing. "Son", Washington started. "Don't call me-", then I realized that is exactly why I'm here. "Let me get to the point", I stated. "Yes, let's cut the crap", George joked. "I want to marry your daughter", he looked at me with a straight face. What was he thinking? Was he gonna reject me? Or accept this? "Listen, I know, I'm not the richest man in New York but I love your daughter. She is my everything. I can't live without her", I try to persuade him. He starts to smile a little, "if you love her. I won't stop you. You have my blessing". I shook his hand with a lot of energy, "I won't let you down", I added. "Just be true", he advises. "Yes, sir", I saluted. We also hugged, but in a manly way. This is the start of a new chapter...
