I got to Mount Vernon and step out of the carriage.
"Thank you." I smile at the driver. I walk onto the porch and knocked. I didn't tell my parents I was coming, but I remembered what my mom told me.
If things don't work out, you can always come here, don't feel trapped.
God bless my mother and father, not the biological ones, my true family. I heard footsteps and mom opened the door. She gasped at my presence and hugged me.

"Baby I'm so sorry with what happened to you." She cried. I shedded a couple tears.

"And he did that while I was here with my kids." I sobbed. She released me, but kept one of her hands on my back.

"Come in. Your father hasn't been feeling too well, I think it's best you see him." She lead me to his room. He was in his bed, coughing. He looked so pale and his mouth looked so dry. I tried my best to not look worried or sad. Instead I smiled and greeted him as if seeing him before he fell ill.

"Father! I'm so happy to see you!" I sat on his bed by his side.

"That *cough* son *cough* of *cough* a *cough*" He tried to yell. (Can we just mention how beautiful these asterisks are?)

"Dad, please rest." I put another pillow under his head so he can be elevated.

"I'm *cough* going *cough* to *cough* kill *cough* him! Even if it kills me!" He went into a coughing fit. I handed him a glass of water that was by his bedside. He drank it.

"Listen dad, I'm staying here for a while to recover from the incident." I explained.

"Where...are my grandchildren?" He asked weakly.

"I left them with Alexander." I informed him.

"Why would you do that?" He questioned.

"He was never there for them." I touched his hand. "I want them to get to know their father other than 'the man who doesn't sleep or eat that you can't bother and works in that one room you can't go in.'"

"I think...you should leave him." Dad suggested weakly.

"I can't. I want to forgive him, because I know what he's going through." I sighed. "And I know he'll never do it again."

"How...do you know that?" He asked.

"I can just feel it." I held onto his hand. "I just need time to heal my heart and reflect on the years."

"I'm...so happy...I got to raise you." He smiled. "You have grown to become a strong woman."

I walked to the park and sat at a bench. It was sunset and the sky was an assortment of colors.

"Fancy finding you here." Thomas strolled to the bench and sat down.

"Oh no! We are not doing this again!" I scooted far from him on the bench but fell off. "I'm ok!" I held a thumbs up.

"Don't worry. I remember how that ended." He stayed on the bench looking at the sunset.

"Do you remember when we used to always go to this park and feed the ducks?" I put myself back on the bench.

"Yeah. That was great, there were less worries about everything." He mentioned. He scooted towards me, grabbed my hand and kissed it.  He then kissed my lips. And kissed my neck.

"Thomas! Stop!" I pushed away.

"Why darlin'?" He scooted towards me.

"Because I can't do this! I can't do it again! I am still recovering from the fact our affair literally overlapped with Alexander's!" I yelled. "I can't do this anymore!" I grabbed at my hair.
