Adeline's P.O.V

"Dad. I'm home," I called out.

"Adeline, you're okay," Archie said.

"Of course I am. I told you that I'm alright," I told him.

"I know but still," Archie said.

"How's dad?" I asked.

"Fine."

"I'm going to Pop's later," I told him.

"Really? That soon?" Archie asked.

"Yes. Although we had bad history there currently, it's also where we had good history there," I told him.

"Like what?"

"Going there when we were younger. You used to take me when I used to be sad. Dad also used to take us here after small celebrations," I told him.

"Adeline-"

"I'm not ready to leave those memories behind," I told him before walking upstairs.

I walked into the diner as there weren't as many people here. I looked over by the restrooms.

I watched as the man in the black hood aim the gun at Pops while my dad sat there in shock.

"Adeline. Stay here and don't come out," Archie whispered. I nodded as I stayed by the wall. I watched as Dad got up making my heart race even more.

Archie ran over to save him. I could feel tears fall from my eyes. I watched as Archie tried to protect our dad but it was too late.

"Adeline," I jumped as I looked over at Betty in uniform.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Thanks for coming. I know it's hard to be here," Betty said.

"Anything to help out," I told her.

"Why don't you order something?" Betty asked.

"Yeah. Sure. I'll take a chocolate milkshake," I told her as I walked over to a booth. I took out my computer and went on Tumblr.

"Here you go, Adeline," Cheryl said before placing the glass on the table.

"Thanks Cheryl," I smiled up at her.

"So, I overheard Reggie talking about you," She told me.

"About what?" I asked.

"He wants you back," She told me.

"Well you know that can't happen," I told her.

"No worries little A. I'll keep your little secret," Cheryl smiled at me.

"Adeline," I heard. Cheryl turned around as I looked up to see Reggie walking over to me.

"Speak of the devil," Cheryl said.

"Hey, Reggie," I said.

"Hi. Cheryl mind if I talk to Adeline alone?" Reggie asked her.

"One move and I'll hurt you," Cheryl threatened before walking away.

"What's up?" I asked.

"I just wanted to see how you've been," Reggie told me.

"Reggie, you know that whatever could've happened between us, won't ever happen right?" I asked him.

"I know. That doesn't mean that we still can't be friends," Reggie told me.

"Reggie-"

"Adeline, I still care about you," Reggie told me. 

"I care about you, in a platonic way," I told him. 

"I understand," Reggie smiled.
