Adeline's P.O.V

I couldn't help but wonder where the hell Cheryl was. At school, it felt weird without seeing her.

"Adeline. I need to talk to you," Toni said as she came over to me.

"What is it? Is it about Cheryl?" I asked.

"Come here," We went to an empty classroom.

"Nana Rose called me about Cheryl," Toni told me.

"What did she say?" I asked.

"Although, we got disconnected before she could say too much beyond the fact that Cheryl was nearby and that she was with the Sisters," Toni told me.

"The Sisters? Why does that sound familiar?" I asked.

"I don't know. Maybe there's a re-education camp called the Sisters?" Toni said. That's when it clicked a little.

"Well, there's a Sisters of Quiet Mercy, but that's more like an orphanage. I don't think they do gay conversion there," I told her.

"Well, who would know for sure?" She asked me.

"Kevin," I said. We went over to Kevin who was at the student lounge.

"Yes, it absolutely could be The Sisters of Quiet Mercy. It's one of the few places in the country that still does conversion therapy. Of the books, of course," Kevin told us.

"What the hell decade is this?" Toni asked us. I shrugged at her.

"During Prohibition, the Sisters ran a distillery in the basement. They used to smuggle booze out to Sweetwater River via a tunnel that still exists today," Kevin tells us.

"Wait, a tunnel we could use to get to Cheryl?"

"Potentially. Gay boys in the program use it to sneak out, to hook-up with perfectly nice young men like myself in Fox Forest."

"Wait, Kevin, can you lead us to this secret gay hook-up tunnel?"

"I can probably find it. But we should go at night," Kevin told us. I nodded before looking at Toni.

"We're going to get her back," I told her.

"I know."

I wore one of dad's buttons as I stood next to him. I held an umbrella over me to prevent the rain from wetting me.

"I think maybe we should just start," Mom told dad.

"Yeah, maybe you're right," Dad said sadly.

"I'm sorry, Fred," Mom told him.

"It's okay. You know, he's busy. I get it. I'm glad you both are here though," Dad told us before giving me a hug. Dad went up to the podium where I stood right behind him.

"Good afternoon. My name is Fred Andrews. And I stand before you today, a humble resident of this town to announce my candidacy for Mayor," Dad announced. I smiled at him before looking around at the crowd.

At night, I put on an all black outfit before meeting Toni outside my house. I smiled at her before shutting the door behind me.

"Ready?" I asked her.

"Yeah. Oh. By the way, I brought some back up," I looked over to see Sweet Pea walking over.

"Hey, handsome," I smiled.

"You look good in black," Sweet Pea smiled.

"Let's go," I said.

We went to Fox Forrest where Kevin was. We followed him over to what looked like an opening to a tunnel.

"According to my Intel, the tunnel that leads from the main residence comes out here," Kevin told us.

"Okay. Kevin, you stay here. If we're not back in fifteen minutes, call your dad," I told him. Kevin nodded before Sweet Pea opened the door with a crowbar.

"And when we get to the main building, what happens then?" Sweet Pea asked.

"We search each and every damn room until we find her," Toni tells him.

"Let's go," I said before we hurried up into the building.

"Okay, let's split up. We'll cover twice the ground," Toni told us.

"Okay. But be careful," I tell her.

She nodded at me before Sweet Pea came with me to find Cheryl. We checked every room until we heard noises. We saw a bunch of nuns and nurses coming towards us making Sweet Pea run the other way.I found Toni and Cheryl in a room making me sigh in relief.

"Cheryl. Toni. There's a bunch of nuns on their way here. We gotta go," I told them.

We ran back down to the tunnels before running to get out of here. Sweet Pea held my hand as we hurried out of there. Kevin was still by the door, ready to shut it closed.

"Come on!" He shouted.

We all got out before Kevin and Sweet Pea closed it and jammed it with the crowbar. Sweet Pea came back to me before we all bolted away from the tunnel.
