Fifty One

Adeline's P.O.V

I stood there next to Archie and my dad as we were at Midge's funeral. I held a white rose as we all stood around. I placed my rose onto her casket before walking over to Sweet Pea. He put an arm around me before holding me close to him.

"I also feel it is my duty to say that... Like the Furies of Ancient Greece, who ceaselessly pursue blood atonement when a crime's been committed, the Vixens and I vow that we will not rest until those responsible for the murder of our sister... Is rightly punished," Cheryl said after singing her memorial song to Midge.

Sweet Pea and I went to Pop's after the funeral. I leaned against him before taking a sip of my hot chocolate.

"Sweet Pea. I'm scared now," I tell him.

"I know. That's why I'm going to drop you off home everyday and if I can't, I'll make sure that another Serpent will," Sweet Pea said.

"Thanks but I'm thinking of taking some defense classes now as well as carrying pepper spray," I told him.

"You look like you had a rough night," Dad told Archie as he walked in. I sipped on my tea, hoping that this could calm my nerves a bit more.

"I can't stop thinking about what the Black Hood wrote, Dad. 'All those who escaped me before will die.' Maybe you should leave town and visit Chicago, go stay with Mom," Archie told him.

"Stupid idea but he slightly has a point dad," I told him.

"Uh-huh. Where would you two stay? Here? Alone? Sheriff Keller's put a deputy outside," Dad told us.

"Midge was murdered in an auditorium full of people. You really think a deputy can stop the Black Hood?" Archie asked.

"I am going to my room," I said.

I walked upstairs before sitting on my chair to watch some Netflix. As I tried to focus on the movie, I heard a knock on my door making me jump. I looked over to see Sweet Pea there.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"Came to visit you," Sweet Pea said before closing the door behind him.

"What for?" I asked him.

"To give you this," Sweet Pea said before handing me a box. I looked down at him before taking the box from him gently. I opened it to see a pink pocket knife in there. I looked up at Sweet Pea.

"What's this for?" I asked.

"I know you feel scared but I think it's best if you're armed in the mean time," Sweet Pea told me.

"Thank you Sweet Pea," I tell him.

"Anything for you," He told me before giving me a kiss on my head.
