Adeline's P.O.V
I hurried over to where Veronica set up the welcoming committee. I saw her, Archie, Josie, and Kevin already there.
"Am I late?" I asked.
"Just on time," Veronica told me.
"Good."
I saw the new students come in making me smile over. I saw Sweet Pea which he smiled over at me.
"Friends. On behalf of the students and faculty here at Riverdale High, welcome to your new school! To ease this transition, I've set up a registration desk where you can get your locker assignments, class schedules, and a list of sports and extracurriculars. We encourage each and every one of you to drink deeply from the cup that is fair Riverdale," Veronica said to them.
"Stand down, Eva Peron!" I heard. I looked over to see the River Vixens and Bulldog players walk over. Reggie and Cheryl were leading them over towards us.
"There's the school spirit I so fondly remember," Jughead said.
"Cheryl. No one invited Fascist Barbie to the party," Veronica told her.
"Wrong, Veronica, no one invited Southside scum to our school. Listen up, Ragamuffins. I will not allow Riverdale High's above average GPA to suffer because of classrooms that are overcrowded with underachievers. So please, do us all a favor, and find some other school to debase with your hardscrabble ways," Cheryl said.
"Why don't you come over here and say that to my face?" Toni said, walking over.
"Happily, Queen of the Buskers," Cheryl said.
"Okay Guys, everyone, can we just put our Northside-Southside differences apart and start over? A new slate?" Archie asked.
"Mmm. You don't speak for the Bulldogs, Andrews. And need I remind you, these greaser-snakes showed up at your place trying to kick your ass," Reggie said.
"Happy to finish what was started," Sweet Pea said coming over to Reggie.
"Sweet Pea. Reggie. Stop it," I said, getting between them.
"God, I am so over the toxic masculinity in this hallway right now," Veronica said.
"All right. That's enough pomp and circumstance. Everyone, let's get to class," Principal Weatherbee said. Reggie pulled me to the side to talk.
"Are you seriously still with that Serpent?" Reggie asked me.
"Yes. I love him and you're going to have to deal with it," I shrugged before walking over to help out.
I got Sweet Pea's, Toni's, Fangs's, and Jughead's things before handing it to them. I held Sweet Pea's hand before walking off.
"And now for the tour of Riverdale high," I said.
"Well I know my ropes around here. I'll take Fangs and Toni while you can take Sweet Pea," Jughead said. I smiled before hugging Jughead.
"Okay. Come on Sweet Pea," I said.
We walked over to his locker. I leaned against the other lockers to look up at him.
"This is your locker," I said, pointing at his.
"Where's yours?" Sweet Pea asked.
"The next hall over. Sadly," I told him.
"It's alright. At least I'm in the same school as you now," Sweet Pea said before giving me a kiss.
"Let's go to the student lounge," I told him as we walked over.
I sat next to him as we sat down. My legs were over his as we sat around with Kevin, Jughead, Toni, Fangs, and Veronica.
"I don't think we've properly met. Veronica Lodge," Veronica introduce herself.
"Of the Park Avenue Lodges," Jughead told the Serpents.
"Toni. Topaz," Toni said, shaking Veronica's hand.
"Oh, like the purple-colored gemstone. Love it."
"And I'm Josie McCoy. Formerly of the Pussycats, now just Josie. And this is Kevin," Josie said.
"What's your name?" Kevin asked Fangs.
"Fogarty. Or you can call me Fangs. Your last name's Keller, right?"
"How did you know that?"
"Joaquin and I used to hang out. He talked about you all the time."
"You guys! Yes, you, come with me. Now!" Principal Weatherbee said to the Serpents. I walked out with Sweet Pea's arm around my shoulder. We walked over to see a serpent painted on the school's seal on the floor.
"Which of you defaced our school seal with this graffiti?" Weatherbee asked.
"This is what they do, Principal Weatherbee. They tag their turf," Reggie said.
"My God, Reggie, could you be anymore transparent?" Veronica asked him. Reggie gave her a nod making me roll my eyes.
"Effective immediately, no gang behavior of any kind will be tolerated at my school. As of this moment, no more Serpent jackets," Principal Weatherbee said.
"What?" Sweet Pea asked in shock.
"Are you kidding me?"
"No more Serpent jackets! All tattoos are gonna be covered. Possession of any gang paraphernalia whatsoever will lead to immediate suspension. Are we clear? That's all," Principal Weatherbee said.
"Give me a moment," I said before yanking Reggie away. I pushed him over to the wall in a slightly empty hallway.
"You're a jerk, Reggie," I told him.
"Me?"
"Yes and you're a jerk. Seriously? Yes you hate them but this is beyond you!" I told him.
"Adeline, why are you even with one of them? He's dangerous," Reggie said.
"Dangerous? He pulled me away from the fight unlike you," I scoffed.
"Come on, Adeline. We both know you can do better," Reggie told me.
"Can I?" I asked him.
"Yes you can!"
"Really? Cause the last boy I liked before Sweet Pea was only playing with me," I snapped before walking off.
