Twenty Five

Adeline's P.O.V

Two weeks flew by fast. I spent my time with Sweet Pea most of the time being however. Now, it was the first day back which I dreaded.

"Adeline, did you have a secret stash of eighty-six thousand dollars in your account?" Dad asked me. 

"No, why?" I asked him.

"Cause it's been paid off," Dad told me.

"That's great!" I said. 

"It sounds great but that means we could owe someone," Dad said. 

"Oh," I said. 

"Don't worry about it. Focus on school. Go out with your boyfriend," Dad said. 

"Okay," I said before walking downstairs.

At school, I walked over to my locker to put my stuff away. I went into the student lounge where I saw everyone at. 

"Students of Riverdale High, this is your principal speaking. E-mails have been sent to your parents, but effective immediately, Southside High School is shut down," Principal Weatherbee announced. Everyone gasped and started to mutter.

"And its students will be transferred to other schools in the district, including this one. I believe the statement we're releasing-"

"Okay, guys, let's not overreact," Veronica said to everyone.

"I can't believe this is happening," I said. 

"-Will address your concerns and theirs. You should be receiving it shortly. I'm sure you have many questions. But it goes without saying, we are welcoming these students with open minds, hearts and arms- course schedules or locker assignments. Thank you. That is all," Principal Weatherbee said. 

"Wait, what does that What does that mean?" Archie asked.

"It means Jughead's coming back," Betty answered. 

"Betty, are you ready for that?" Kevin asked her.

"Of course. We're fine."

"But why is this happening now?" Archie asked confused.

"Who knows. It's probably some bizarre, Byzantine town ordinance we couldn't possibly understand. And in the meantime, let's receive these exiles as if they were our own flesh and blood. Who's in? Hmm?" Veronica asked.

"I am! Sweet Pea's coming here!" I said excitedly. 

"At least Adeline is happy about this," Kevin said. 

"My boyfriend's coming here," I said. 

"Oh great," Archie said sarcastically.
