Thirty Two

Adeline's P.O.V

I sat with Archie and Kevin for Veronica's confirmation. Josie was singing Bitter Sweet Symphony. I smiled a little as I saw Veronica sung as she walked down. She and Josie sung together before starting the confirmation.

At her little after party, I sat on a chair as I drank some soda with Kevin. I saw Betty finding Jughead while Archie was with Veronica.

"So how are you and Sweet Pea?" Kevin asked me.

"We're good. Any new guys in your life lately, Kevin?" I asked him.

"No," Kevin smiled.

As the party went on, a nice slow song play on. I watched as Archie and Veronica danced a little. Mr. Lodge came in and started to dance with Veronica. I saw Archie walk over to me with a small smile.

"Wanna dance?" He asked me.

"Yeah," I nodded.

We went to the dance floor where I put my hand on his shoulder. Archie put one hand on my waist while he held my other hand. I could feel him all tensed making me look up at him in confusion. 

"Archie, are you okay?" I asked him. 

"Why wouldn't I be?" Archie asked.

"You seem... tensed," I tell him.

"Adeline, just remember whatever I do, I do it for you and dad," Archie told me.

"Archie, you're scaring me," I tell him.

"I'm sorry. It's just, we've been through a lot together and I can't lose you," Archie told me.

"Archie, calm down please. I'm sure whatever you're doing, I can help you a little," I told him.

"Adeline, I don't think this one you can help me with," Archie said.

At the end of the dance, I was talking with Josie and Kevin once more. I sat as I looked at everyone. I started to feel bored.

"Kevin, can you tell Archie that I went home early?" I asked him.

"Yeah. Sure," Kevin said.

"Thanks, Kevin. I owe you one," I smiled before grabbing my coat and walking out.

I took an Uber to the Whyte Wrym. Once I got there, I walked in to see Sweet Pea talking to Toni and Fangs. Toni noticed me before nudging Sweet Pea. He looked over to me, causing him to smile. I walked over to him before sitting down next to him.

"Too much partying?" Toni asked me.

"It was great and all but I got a little bored," I told them. Sweet Pea held my hand but quickly pulled away.

"Jesus you're cold," He told me.

"I don't feel cold," I shrugged. Sweet Pea took off his jacket before putting it around me. I smiled before leaning onto Sweet Pea.

"You look beautiful by the way," Sweet Pea whispered into my ear. I smiled before looking up at him.

"Alright everyone. Time to vote," I heard.

"Vote for what?" I asked Sweet Pea.

"The Serpents are going to decide weather or not Jughead will stay or not," Toni told me.

Everyone gathered around to face the stage. Sweet Pea had his arms around me as he stood behind me. I held onto him as we watched the voting happen.

"Stop the damn vote," I heard. We turned around to see Jughead with General Pickens's head. I saw Betty and FP with him.

"Tall Boy, mind if we have a word with you," Jughead asked.

They sat Tall Boy down on a chair as they interrogated him. I stood next to Betty as we watched FP talk to Tall Boy. I was still wearing Sweet Pea's jacket which was very comfortable.

"What the hell were you doing at the dump last week, Tall Boy?" FP asked him.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Tall Boy insisted.

"I'm talkin' about you cutting the head off the Pickens' statue and stashing it at the dump where you were seen, dumbass. So start spilling!" FP yelled at him.

"Why'd you do it? Someone put you up to this?" Jughead asked.

"What's the Northsiders doing here? This is Serpent business, it's on Serpent land. Also, she can't wear a jacket if she's not one of us," Tall Boy said looking at me.

"She's here because she's one of us," Jughead said about Betty.

"And my girlfriend here is an ally," Sweet Pea told him. I held his hand as he defended me.

"You haven't answered my son's question: Why'd you do it?" FP said to Tall Boy.

"Cause I'm tired of seeing the Serpents goin' soft under your rule. Then Hiram Lodge came by, wanting to stir up some trouble. He said if I took the head, he'd get McCoy and the cops to swarm all over us, 'cause some chaos," Tall boy explained.

"So Hiram Lodge asked you to start a mutiny and you helped him, why?" Jughead asked.

"I figured it'd be my chance to get rid of you, sunshine. And if I got rid of him, I could get rid of you, too, FP."

"And then, what, you'd become leader?" FP asked him.

"He and Penny. You're a Judas, Tall Boy, and an idiot," Jughead said.

"You betrayed your own kind, Tall Boy. You broke Serpent Law. What should we do with this lowlife?" FP asked the Serpents.

"Strip him of his jacket. Exile him," Jughead said.

"All those in favor," FP asked. Everyone raised their hand including me and Betty. FP let out a snicker.

"Looks like this piece of trash and I got a long ride ahead of us," FP said.
