Sixty One

Adeline's P.O.V

Archie and I got the whole school to help let the Southside kids stay. I stood in front with Archie and Sweet Pea by my side.

"What's the meaning of this?" Mr. Weatherbee asked.

"It's a show of support, sir. For the Southsiders who are being wrongly transferred out of our school. Everyone's ready to walk out, Principal Weatherbee," I told him confidently.

"Any student who walks out better keep walking, because they'll be expelled," He said.

"You're a good man, Principal Weatherbee. You're not the kind of person who discriminates. And if you are, then expel me. Because I don't want to be a part of that," I told him. Mr. Weatherbee looked around.

"Everyone, get to class," He said. I smiled in victory as Sweet Pea hugged me. I turned around and smiled up at him.

"I am really in love with you," Sweet Pea told me.

"I'm proud of you, Adeline," Archie told me.

"You really look good in that jacket," Sweet Pea told me.

"Is that so?" I asked him.

"Maybe I'll consider letting you join the Serpents," Sweet Pea told me.

"I just want to be in your world and in any world you're dedicated to," I told him. Sweet Pea leaned down to give me a kiss.

Today was election day and I stood proudly next to my dad. It was held in the school's gym for today.

"Nervous?" Dad asked me.

"Lightly," I told him.

"Lightly?"

"I know that whatever happens, it happens for a reason," I told him. Dad gave me a side hug before looking around at everyone.

"Whatever happens, happens," He said.
