Adeline's P.O.V

"Adeline!" I looked over to see my dad walking over to me in the living room.

"Yes, dad?" I asked him.

"You're looking at the new running candidate for mayor of Riverdale," Dad told me.

"Oh my gosh. Congrats dad," I said before hugging him.

"Thanks to you, Archie, and your boyfriend, I got enough signatures," Dad told me.

"Well I'm glad we were able to help you," I told him.

"Where's Archie? I have to go tell him," Dad said.

"I think he's in the shed," I told him.

"I'll be back," Dad told me before he walked to the backyard.

One night, I was in my room until Archie barged in. I looked up at him in confusion.

"Ever heard of knocking?" I asked him.

"I need you to do something for me," Archie told me.

"What?" I asked. Archie handed me a journal making me confused.

"It's a list of notes on the Lodge family. I need you to keep it safe for me," Archie said.

"Can I read it?" I asked.

"No. But if at one point you desperately need to, do it," Archie said.

"Why are you giving me this?" I asked.

"Adeline, you're the only person I can ever trust. You know exactly what to do with it when the time is right," Archie told me. I nodded before he walked out of the room.

I started to wonder about what was in the journal. I put the journal hidden within my bookshelf before going back to what I was doing.

The next day, I was with my dad before school until he got a call. Dad took Archie and I to the Lodge's apartment where they wanted to talk to us.

"Jughead Jones may be about to break a story. A story about my plans for Riverdale. And rather than hear it from him, I think it's only right that you hear it from me," Mr. Lodge told us as we sat around in the dining table. When Mr. Lodge told us the news, I gasped in shock.

"You're serious? Southside High is gonna be turned into..." Dad said in disbelief.

"A private, for-profit prison," Mr. Lodge said, trying to make it sound okay.

"Yeah, built on the bones of a high school. What the hell have we been building in SoDale?" Dad asked Mrs. Lodge.

"What we've said all along. Housing," Mrs. Lodge told him.

"For all the people who will work at the prison," Mr. Lodge continued.

"And you expect me to support this as mayor?" Dad asked him.

"We're hoping you'd be open to it. Yes," Mr. Lodge said.

"Can't do it. I'm outta here," Dad said. I stood up along with him.

"Look, Fred..."

"We've been in business for how long? And you didn't tell me. And the only reason you're telling me now is because it's getting ready to become public.

"I'll admit, it's not ideal-"

"'Not ideal,' Hiram? You wanna turn the town that I love, my home, my children's home, into a prison," Dad said. We both started to walk away.

"Fred, please let me tell you why and how this is the right move, for us, for Riverdale," Mr. Lodge said, stopping us.

"You just save that for whoever it is that you find to run for mayor because we are leaving and we are leaving now. Come on, Archie," Dad said

"Dad, I'm gonna stay," Archie said. Dad and I both looked over at him in shock.

"Excuse me?" Dad asked him.

"I wanna stay. I wanna hear what Mr. Lodge has to say," Archie told us.

"Then we will see you at home then," Dad told him before he and I walked out of the apartment.
