Adeline's P.O.V

I remember the first time I met Sweet Pea. The south side had a bookstore that had this one book I desperately wanted.

I walked out of the store with the bag in my hand. I walked out of the store and zipped up my jacket from the cold. Walking in the dark wasn't smart. I walked passed a gang making me feel uneasy.

"Hey, sexy!" One catcalled me. I simply ignored them as I continued to walk.

"Hey! I'm talking to you!"

I picked up my pace as I tried to walk away. I kept looking back to see the boys following me. That caused me to accidentally bumped into someone. I looked up in shock. I saw a handsome, tall guy standing in front of me.

"I'm sorry. I wasn't looking and these guys are following me," I said before looking back to see the gang had followed me. The guy pushed me behind him as I saw the back of his leather jacket. He was a Southside Serpent.

"What the hell are you doing here?" One of the guys asked the boy in front of me.

"Just taking a walk. I think we're going to head off now," The boy told them before turning to me and wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

"Thank you so much for helping me," I tell him.

"Anything to help a pretty lady. Now, what is a Northsider like you doing here?" He asked.

"Your bookstore has a book that I desperately want," I tell him.

"I'm Sweet Pea," He introduce himself.

"I'm Adeline," I smile at him.

"Pretty name. Can I offer you a ride back home? Pretty sure it's not safe around here," Sweet Pea told me.

"I actually know someone here who can take me home. Do you know a FP Jones?" I asked him.

"How do you know FP?"

"I'm friends with his son. I know he can take me home," I told him.

"Alright. Come on. I'll walk you over to FP. He's at the Whyte Wrym," Sweet Pea said to me.

Ever since that one night, I've started a friendship with Sweet Pea. However, I was in an unofficial relationship with Reggie at the time. Until I found out that Reggie was just playing with me.

I went to the first person I wanted to see after I found out. I knocked on Sweet Pea's door, waiting for him to answer. When he did answer, I flung my arms around him. Sweet Pea held onto me making me pull away to look at him.

"What happened?" He asked me. He let me inside and lead me to the living room couch. I sat down and wiped some of my tears away.

"I found out that the guy was playing with me and my feelings," I told him.

"Shh. It's alright," Sweet Pea said, putting an arm around me.

"This sucks. I'm about to go into high school and my first possible boyfriend was just playing me," I pouted. I leaned back and Sweet Pea leaned back with me.

"Then he's an asshole for doing that to you. You deserve way better," Sweet Pea said. I looked over at him. Sweet Pea looked back at me making me lean up to kiss him.

"Wait. Wait. I don't think this is right," Sweet Pea said pulling away quickly.

"I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have done that," I said getting up. I felt embarrassed. How could I do that?

"No. No. Adeline," Sweet Pea said, holding my hand. I looked back down at him. Sweet Pea stood up and wrapped an arm around me.

"Lets take this slow alright? When you start high school, we'll get together. How about that?" He asked.

"But-"

"I'm serious. I'll ask you out the proper way when school starts," Sweet Pea told me. I nodded at him. Sweet Pea leaned down to give me a kiss on the cheek.
