Adeline's P.O.V

I was never into sports. I always preferred to stay indoors and read. However, I did like to go watch Archie play his sports whenever he played. Now since football season was over, he was moving onto basketball.

"So, are you ready for basketball?" I asked him.

"Yeah. Been training all week," Archie said.

"I think Sweet Pea is trying it out as well," I told him.

"He is," Archie said.

When we got to school, I saw Sweet Pea waiting for me outside. I turned over at Archie and smiled softly.

"I'll see you at home," I told him.

"Be safe please," Archie said.

"Don't do anything stupid," I tell him before walking over to Sweet Pea.

I sat in the wrestling room as I saw Archie doing stretches. I came here as soon as Kevin called me when Archie joined.

"Adeline Andrews," I looked over to see Veronica's dad walk over to me.

"Mr. Lodge. Nice to see you again," I told him.

"Your brother joined the wrestling team?" He asked me. I looked back at Archie.

"I guess so."

"Are you here for support?" Mr. Lodge asked me.

"Of course."

"Do you think your brother can handle wrestling?" Mr. Lodge questioned me. I looked over back at him.

"I believe that he can," I told him.

"Well then. Best wishes to your brother," He told me.

"Thank you Mr. Lodge," I said. I walked up to the stands and sat down. I stared down at Mr. Lodge for a bit. Something was off but I didn't know what.

When I met up with Sweet Pea at Pop's, he was reading the Blue and Gold. I sat down next to him only to see a mad look on his face.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Pickens Day is a sick day," Sweet Pea said before handing it to me. I read it over only to be shocked at the truth behind it.

"Oh my god," I said.

"Are you still going to that stupid celebration?" Sweet Pea asked me.

"Yes. My dad's part of it and it's been tradition to go every year. I feel so awful of going now," I told Sweet Pea. I felt his arm around my shoulders. I looked up to see him looking down at me.

"I know you're loyal to your family but at least think about this for once," Sweet Pea told me. I nodded in response.

I walked inside my house to see my dad sitting on the couch reading the Blue and Gold.

"Hey dad," I said.

"Hi, sweetie. Can I talk to you?" Dad asked me.

"I was actually going to ask if I could talk to you as well," I told him.

"Alright, let's talk," He said.

"It's about Pickens Day," I told him. I sat down besides him as I faced him.

"Guess we have the same thought," Dad sighed a little.

"I don't want my Serpent friends thinking I don't support them but I don't want to bail out on a small tradition we have," I told him.

"I understand. Look, I know you want to show your support for the both of us. So I'll make you a deal that can maybe help benefit you and everyone you want to support," Dad said.

"What?" I asked him, sitting up a bit more.

"Come in the beginning then you can leave early if you want," Dad said.

"Really?" I asked him.

"Yeah. You're still coming like we used to but you just leave once I do my announcement and during the song," Dad explains to me.

"Thank you dad," I said before hugging him.

"You're welcome," Dad said before kissing my head.
