Twenty Four

Adeline's P.O.V

I read a chapter of my book in my bed. I heard a knock on my door making me look up to see my dad there. 

"Hey, dad. What's up?" I asked him.

"Your boyfriend is here," He told me. I saw Sweet Pea appeared making me smile.

"Hey," I said getting out of bed. 

"Leave the door open, please," Dad said before leaving us alone.

"Dad," I said embarrassed. I looked up at Sweet Pea's tall figure.

"What brings you here?" I asked.

"Toni told me that you wanted to do the serpent dance," He told me. My smile turned into a frown.

"I wanted that to be a surprise until I performed it for you," I said.

"Adeline, I never want you to join the serpents," Sweet Pea told me.

"Why not?" I asked him.

"It's not that I don't think you can't handle it. It's because I know you. I know that you'd want a good future. Me, I didn't care about anything until I met you," Sweet Pea said.

"I just want to be part of your world and any other worlds you may have," I told him.

"The only worlds I have is the serpents and you," Sweet Pea told me. I smiled softly before giving him a kiss.

"Are you mad at me?" I asked him.

"No. Just promise me that you won't join the Serpents," Sweet Pea told me. 

"I promise," I said. Sweet Pea leaned down to give me a quick kiss. 

"If it makes you feel better, I'll let you wear my jacket sometimes," Sweet Pea told me. I smiled widely and nodded. 

"I'd like that," I told him.

I lied on my bed until I heard a knock on my door. I sat up from my bed to see Archie walk in. I rubbed my eyes as he walked over to me. 

"Archie, what's wrong?" I yawned.

"He's dead," Archie told me.

"Who is?" I asked him. Archie sat on the foot of my bed.

"The Black Hood. He's dead," Archie told me.

"Are you serious?" I asked.

"Very. I saw it happen. Betty was with me and-"

I hugged him to shut up. Archie hugged me back slowly. 

"If that means you'll stop being paranoid and we can finally rest, then I'm glad he's dead. I don't care what happened, you're alive. I'm alive. Dad's alive," I told him.

"You're right. I needed to tell you now because I know you were in shock when it all started," Archie told me.

On Christmas day, we all called mom. I went first. I told her that school was doing fine and that she should meet my boyfriend the next time she comes over. I handed the phone to Archie before looking over at dad. 

"Can I give my present to Sweet Pea?" I asked him.

"When Archie's done, he can take you," Dad told me. 

"Okay.'

I went upstairs to change into my outfit I wanted to show Sweet Pea. I put on my dress and hat before putting a coat over me. 

"Hey, Adeline, can you give me a moment before we leave?" Archie asked me. 

"Yeah," I nodded. I grabbed Sweet Pea's present before walking downstairs. 

I got inside the car with Archie as he drove off to Sweet Pea's trailer home. Once Archie parked the car, he looked over at me. 

"Can you promise me something," Archie said. 

"What?" I asked him.

"Please stay innocent," Archie said. 

"Archie!" I said in shocked.

"I'm serious," Archie told me. 

"I don't plan on loosing my virginity today," I told him.

"Okay. Okay. Just don't stay out too long," Archie told me. 

"Promise," I said before walking out. 

I went to Sweet Pea's front door and knocked on it. I waited a bit until he opened the door. I smiled up at him as he smiled down at my short height. 

"Merry Christmas," I said, holding up his present. 

"Come on inside, angel," Sweet Pea said. I walked in to see his mom and grandmother there. 

"Hi Ms. Conner," I said to his mom.

"Adeline. Merry Christmas," She smiled at me.

"Merry Christmas to you as well," I told her. 

"Hello, Jordan's girlfriend," His grandmother smiled.

"Mama, it's Adeline," Sweet Pea's mom corrected. 

"We'll be in my room," Sweet Pea told them before pulling me over to his room. 

As Sweet Pea shut the door, I took off my large coat. Sweet Pea looked at me in shock.

"Who are you and what have you done to my girlfriend?" Sweet Pea asked jokingly. 

"She's fine. I just wanted to break out of my comfort zone," I told him.

"As much as I love you breaking out of your comfort zone, I still want that innocent angel I met back last year," Sweet Pea tells me. I smiled before giving him a kiss. 

"Open your present," I told him as I gave it to him. Sweet Pea opened the box to see the watch and key chain I got for him. 

"Wow. Adeline."

"Do you like it?" I asked him.

"Love it," Sweet Pea said before giving me another kiss. He pulled away before getting his present for me out of a drawer. 

"Here. I hope you like it. Worked a lot to get this for you," Sweet Pea told me as he handed it to me.

I opened the present carefully. I saw a necklace with a heart charm. In the heart, the words, Forever My Angel, in it. I smiled as I looked up at Sweet Pea. I kissed him softly before pulling away.

"Can you put it on me?" I asked him.

"Yeah."

I lifted my hair up a bit so he could put the necklace on me. Once it was secured, I turned to him and gave Sweet Pea another kiss. When I pulled away, I stared up into his eyes.

"Sweet Pea," I said. 

"Yeah, princess?"

"I love you," I told him. Sweet Pea smiled down at me as he wrapped his arms around me.

"I love you too. Although, I wish you would've let me say it first," Sweet Pea said. I giggled as he kissed my head. 

"Thank you," Sweet Pea said to me.

"For what?" I asked, looking up at him.

"For not judging me and for putting up with me," Sweet Pea said. 

"Thank you for protecting me through everything," I told him.
