Christmas was his favorite time of the year. The time when everybody is happy and busy in giving gifts to one another. Also it was winter time, which meant he could easily try out (and wear) all the sweaters his friends got for him.
Because Remus was particularly fond of knitted woolen sweaters. And that is why all his close friends got him sweaters for Christmas. Once, Lily even knitted a sweater herself and let's just say that Remus absolutely loved that sweater and kept it with him way after it was incapapbe of use.
He had kept it stored securely in his school trunk along with all the photographs and memories of his friends. Because after the terrible way things turned out for them due to the war, recalling those happy days had become much too painful.
