Remus was a very family oriented person even though his relationship with his father was a bit strained due to his status as a werewolf.
Thus when he started Hogwarts, in the first few years he would tend to get homesick more often than others. It also took him a lot of time to get adjusted in new places and in the beginning he would always be extremely uncomfortable.
