30. The Next Day

I love this scene! Clary's all like this kiss means nothing. I'm doing it because I'm forced to. It doesn't change anything. Then, Jace is all like whatever you say. And then they kiss for like 5 mintues! Simon's just like....okay guys it's working you can stop now!

Friday and Saturday were uneventful. Clary got yelled at for missing school. My parents are out of town, so I'm in the clear. We decided that we cannot under any normal circumstances miss anymore school for a while.

It's Sunday night, and Red came over to have a sleepover with Izzy. She ended up having a nightmare and now I've got her safely tucked into my arms.

I wake up with Red in my arms, and I feel like I could stay there forever. But....my lovely alarm clock goes off and Red wakes with a flinch. I quickly turn it off, but my hands never leave her. "Hey, Red it's okay. It's just my alarm clock," I soothe and pat her hair.

"Jace......I'm sorry.....it was just a bad dream," Red whispers.

"Nonsense, there's no need to apologize. It's not your fault. Now, we've got to get up and get ready for school. I mean it this time," I play and smile as her eyes flutter open.

"I know I know...we can't miss anymore school," Red replies as she sits up. I quickly peck her on the lips.

"You'd better get back into Izzy's room before she has a meltdown," I joke.

"Alright, I'll see you at breakfast," Red smiles and leaves me alone. This is too good to be true! Red's actually giving me a chance to be her boyfriend! I cannot screw this up today! After all of the mistake I've already managed to make in the...what....four days, I cannot make any more!

I go to my closest and shut the door. I decide to wear a black shirt, and some faded jeans. I hope Red likes it on me! The aroma of bacon pulls me from my thoughts. Walking down the stairs, I see Red sitting at my dining room table like she lives here, eating a bagel with cream cheese. I love it! She's so comfortable here, and it makes me so happy! "Hey Alec, what has you in such a good mood to be making us bacon?" I ask.

"N....nothing," Alec stammers nervously.

"Jeeze bro, I didn't mean to make you so nervous," I laugh, and plop a seat next to Red.

"Jace, stop being so mean to Alec! You know how sensitive he is!" Izzy scolds.

"He knows I'm just playing don't you, Alec," I reply. "Clarissa, you seem pretty quiet this morning. Don't you have any thoughts on the matter." I can feel her Emerald eyes glare at me. She obviously hasn't figured out how to talk with me in front of other people, because I know she has an opinion. Great Job Jace! Make Red feel uncomfortable after the bad night she had! You'd better make it up to her!

"I think I'm trying to eat my food in peace and you should let me be," Red answers. Okay....she did good. Now, don't do that to her again, you idiot!

"Gosh Jace, leave Clarissa alone or she'll stop coming over. If she does that, I'll kill you," Izzy warns.

After breakfast, Izzy, Alec, Red, and I hop in my car and head to school. We have to pick up Alec and Izzy's friend Mangus on the way, but we still make it in time.

At school.....

The first person I see waiting by the door in Sebastian. Don't do anything rash! Red wants to keep your relationship a secret for now. Beating the crap out of Sebastian isn't what she wants you to do! But...as I see her approach the entrance, Red sees him to and a look of pure fear gleams in her eyes. Do something! I practically run over to her.

"Clarissa, I need your help. There's this math problem I just can't solve," I begin, and grab her arm gently, dragging her toward the side entrance.

"Thank you," Red whispers when we finally get to a more secluded and Sebastian free part of the school.

"No problem Red. Trust me it was best for both of us to leave quickly. I wanted to make him understand that he cannot hurt you anymore, but I stopped. I knew you didn't want me to do anything to Sebastian, so I had to get away from him," I explain. Red's lips find mine, and I find myself against a wall. I fall into the kiss and let her take control. Uh! This feels sooooooo good!

***********Ring Ring***********

The bell rings and I remember where we are. "Red...we've got to get to social studies," I breathlessly manage.

She let's go, and then whispers in my ear, "Please don't make me talk in front of people with you, yet. I don't know how to respond and I get really anxious."

"Red, I'm sorry. I swear I didn't mean to and I'll do my best, but you're so....easy to talk to," I reply.

"Jace...we need to get to class now," Red says, and with that were off to Mr. Mac’s class.
