Clarissa

"Red......I don't like the way Sebastian looks at you, because it's degrading," Jace tries. Is he jealous? No he isn't jealous, because he doesn't like you! Stop thinking like that! Ugh.....I don't want to do this right now.

"Jace.....I'm really tired. I appreciate your care for me, but can we talk about this later?" I fake a yawn.

"Yeah, no problem," Jace replies. Yes, he let it go.

I snuggle closer to Jace. He lays his hands on my waist. My spine brushes against his chest, and my eyelids get the best of me.

I wake up and remember why I'm finding myself, yet again, in Jace's arms. I feel like he's teasing me. His embrace is merely that of a friendship. Jace is still alsleep, so I imagine what I'd be like, if he did like me. His grip would be harder and his hands would tease my hips. To wake me up, he would burry his head in my neck and blow gently, whispering my name. I would feel his eyes watching me as I regained my awakness. STOP IT, Clarissa! He'll never do that, so just stop it! Jace stirs and I pretend to be asleep, so he doesn't think I was creepily staring at him.

"Hey, Red. We've got to go to school today. Plus, Izzy doesn't know you're here," Jace whispers in my ear. Why does he have to be so...ugh!

"I know, I know," I manage. Jace's phone starts ringing.

"It's Izzy. Oh crap! She probably realized I'm not in my room. What am I gonna do? What is she gonna say? Oh, jeeze, what should I say?" Jace asks panicking.

"You're with a girl named......Brittany Johnson...at her house. Hurry answer it, before you miss her call!" I yell.

Jace: Hey, Izzy. What's up?

Izzy: Where are you?

Jace: I'm at a girls house. Ah....I think she said her name was Brittany Johnson.

Izzy: Ugh, whatever man-whore. I'll see you at school, that is if you decide to grace us with you're presence. *Hangs up

"Red, what do I do now?" Jace questions frantically.

"Okay, I think I may have left a shirt here. I can just change into that. As for you, wait in here...with me, until Simon picks Izzy up, then go get clothes quickly," I calmly answer.

"Oh no, I think I hear someone. Quick hide in the closet!" Jace whisper-yells as we bolt for the closet. Quietly, we get in, but the door almost doesn't shut. I am against the free wall and Jace is pushed up next to me. This is sooooooo weird. You need to calm down, now! Why does Jace seem so uncomfortable? What is wrong?

"Jace are you okay?" I whisper in his ear, so he can hear me.

"Y....yeah.....I'm fine," Jace stutters.

"You seem really tense," I comment. I swear his face is red.

"Well, I'm kinda squished in here with you, that's all," Jace explains.

"I.....I'm sorry," I looks down embarrassed. Of course he doesn't want to be in here with you! He doesn't like you like that! Just try and give his some more space.

"Red......I didn't.....I didn't mean.....it....like that," Jace defends.

"It's.....it's okay.....It's get it. I'm not exactly the best person to be stuck in a closet, let alone a small closet, where we have to be so close," I manage. I will not cry in front of him! He can't see how much that hurt me.

"No, Red," Jace begins. "Ugh, I....I've got to go. I...just can't do this right now. I'm sorry." He stands up and walks out. What am I supposed to do now! I cannot believe he just left me. Then again, he didn't have a reason to stay...so. I can't take it! I have to do something to make it better. I go to the bathroom and find a razor. Just one little cut, it'll make me feel better. Jace walks back in, "Red, I'm sorry," Jace begins. "Oh, Red, please stop." He reaches down and grabs the razor from my hand. "Ouch," Jace winces when he takes the razor the wrong way. He bleeds a little from his finger. "Red, I'm sooooooo sorry." Jace kneels down and grabs towels for my arms. "Red, why?" Jace asks. Why? Because I wanted the pain to go away. I wanted feel better!

"I....I'm embarrassed. Why.....did you come in....here?" I manage, my cheeks are as red as my hair. Ugh!

"I realized that I wasn't a good friend, just leaving you, especially since you totally misinterpreted what I was trying to say earlier," Jace explains. Good friend! Yes, because that's all. Last night, it didn't mean anything special! It was just what a friend does for a friend.

"I.....it's okay," I begin. "I understand. Yo....you've seen my scars and....you know.....how disgusting I am. People.....they always leave.....I....I get it......it's okay....I shouldn't have expected.....you.....to be anything for me.....I can't.....give you anything in return. You shouldn't waste your time on......me. There's......nothing for you to gain out of it.

"I want to help you.....because I........I care about you. I don't need to get anything "in return." You will NEVER be a waste of time. YOU HEAR ME!" Jace yells and grabs my shoulders.

"Jace.....we've got to go to school," I deflect, avoiding eye contact. I really don't want to talk about this!

"Red, no," Jace responds. "We're not going to school today. One, we need to talk about this. Two, you've just cut your arm. I need to take a look at it, sterilize it, bandage it properly. Three, after last night, it may do you some good to stay away from Sebastian for a day, so he can cool down. Four, you didn't get much sleep, I know for a fact."
