I wake up in Jace's arms. I smile as I watch him peacefully sleep, content. He's so hot! Ugh! Why does he do this to me? I just want to feel his hands in my hair, his lips on mine. Damn! When did I get so touchy feely?

The doctor comes in and says, "I've looked at your blood levels, blood pressure, blood sugar, etc. They all seem to be in a good place. However, I don't want you to go to school today because you may still be dizzy and might faint. " Then he walks out.

Jace squeezes me a few times. I think he is waking up, until, he cries out. Okay, just calm down and do what you did last time. Yeah, that's it! "Jace it's just a nightmare. You're not there, I promise you're here with me. Open your eyes, hon. It's okay, come on," I coax.

Jace shoots straight up, removing me from his arms. "Red, I..I'm sorry...I-" Jace tries, but he starts crying.

"It's okay, come here, it's okay," I whisper to him. I HATE that someone has done this to Jace! It just makes my blood boil, the thought of someone hurting him! He cuddles next to me, but this time his face falls on my chest as he cries. I know this isn't the time, but did he really have to fall on my chest! I mean, what if he..he touches.....them? Pull it together! You need to help him!

"Hey, Jace. It's okay. You're here with me. It's okay," I soothe. "Shhhhh." I run my fingers through his hair as he wraps his hands around my waist. "Do....do you want to talk about....the nightmare?"

"Red, I want to, but....maybe once you get out of the hospital," Jace responds.

"Okay, I think that should be today," I reply. "The doctors came in while you were sleeping and told me I can go home. I can't go so school today, but I can go home." I know some other things we could do to occupy our time.

"Why didn't you wake me?" Jace asks irritated. Great! You've already done something wrong! Just make it up to him and maybe he won't take back what he said last night.

"I'm...I'm sorry, you just looked so peaceful. I....I just...." I try then bite my lip. Great! Now he knows I'm just docile, cowardly, worthless, whimpy, and pathetic. He knows I am not worth anything! He knows and now it's going to end.

"Red, it's perfectly fine. I'm sorry, it's not you, it's just waking up like that, it tends to put me in a bitter mood. I promise it's nothing you've done. Shall we go to your house now?" Jace asks. He doesn't seem mad, but....neither did Valentine. He...he would make me think all was well, lull me into a false sense of safety, and then attack me. I need to stay on guard, just in case.

"Yes, yes we shall," I smile and we walk out of the room to get my papers. "My mom is pulling a 12 hour shift, and she went in at what 11 last night?"

"Yeah, I'll stay with you, don't worry," Jace offers and a smile forms on his face. We walk out of the hospital and to Jace's car. Jace helps me in, gets in himself, and we're off to my house. This is crazy! This is Jace were talking about! He won't hurt me...

We get into my empty house. I make my way towards the stairs while Jace goes to get me some water. "Jace, I'm not so sure I can walk up all of the stairs without guidance. Do you think maybe you can help me?" I ask as I attempt to walk up them. In all honesty, I am dizzy and wobbly. He won't hurt me! He won't do anything I don't want to do! It's okay.

"Yeah sure," Jace smiles. I hope he's not too mad at me.

I laugh, "That's not what I meant Jace," I whisper in his ear as he picks me up and carries me up the stairs. I guess I'm not the only needy one. He walks towards my bedroom. "Jace, put me down." This is the test, if he puts me down, then I'm still in control, he's not going to hurt me, and I'll be fine.

"As you wish," Jace responds, and sets me on my bed. Jace sits on the side of my bed while I'm more in the middle.

"What would you like to do?" I ask. From his smile I can tell he knows what I'm thinking about.

"Maybe we can play cards or watch some tv," Jace teases. I may be slightly needy at the moment, but I do have dignity! If he thinks he's going to get me to ask him, he better think again.

"Okay, how about rummy?" I question. He comes closer to me. I feel the shivers down my back.

"Rummy, I don't think I've played that before," Jace responds.

"Hmmm....." I begin. "How about crazy 8's?" Let's see how he reacts to that! This is so fun!

"Red, I really want to play a game, but I don't know any of the games your suggesting," Jace explains. I see where this is going!

"What game would you like to play, Jace?" I ask. Jace gets closer to me, and I can see the need in his eyes. He's so close! I can't give in first. But, he's so close to me. Ugh!

"How about we....play checkers?" Jace offers. I thought we were playing but what if he really doesn't want to? What if I'm not attractive enough? Jace must see the confusion and self doubt in my eyes because in a flash, he is hovering over me. I'm on my back laying down.

"Red, I didn't mean to hurt you. I....I thought we were playing," Jace whispers and puts his head down.

"I...I thought we were playing too, but then you asked about checkers. I figured you were being serious, and I had just misinterpreted the entire conversation. That I wasn't attractive enough," I explain. What is he going to say to that?
