Clarissa

After dinner, I walk over to Sebastian's house and knock on the door. "Hey, Clarissa," Sebastian greets.

"Hi, what are we doing tonight?" I ask. Sebastian pulls me in and closes the door.

We walk into the living room and watch a movie. It's some kind of action movie, and I'm completely bored after the first few minutes. I pretend to watch it, and I stare at the screen, but I'm thinking about Jace. How it good it felt when he whispered I my ear. I think about his smile, his golden eyes, and his gentle hands as they grasped me, keeping me safe. "Hey, the movie's over," Sebastian pulls me back into reality.

"Okay, I should probably get going it's kind of late," I reply.

"I thought, maybe we can stay and spend some qualiy time together," Sebastian answers. His hand travels down my back.

"Hey, stop it Sebastian!" I yell.

"Come on, you know you want to. Let's have some fun," Sebastian coaxes.

"No Sebastian, I don't. Let go of me," I demand. His lips find mine and I can smell the alcohol on his breath. "Sebastian, have you been drinking? Are you drunk?"

"Why makes you think I'm drunk. Just because I'm not some sissy, like Jace and I drink, doesn't mean I'm drunk," Sebastian snaps. He grabs my waist, and I don't feel safe. Sebastian wouldn't hurt me I decide, but maybe intoxicated  Sebastian might. He starts pulling up my shirt as he kisses me and I push him away.

"Get away from me!" I shout. "We're done. You hear me, I'm breaking up with you." I've got to get out of here. While Sebastian is recuperating from my strong push, I open the door and bolt. Because I walked, I don't have a way to get home. I check my phone and it's nearly nine. Jace, I think. I can call him and he'll help me. He said he'd always be here for me. What if he's busy or doesn't want to come? What will I do!

My phone rings and I hear Jace's sweet voice, "Red what's wrong?"

Tears roll off of my face, "I need you're help. Sebastian....he's drunk. I'm at his house, but I'm.... scared. I....am sort of........ hiding in a bush near the end of his driveway. Please come and get me," I cry.

"I'm on my way Red, just stay where you are. I'll be there in three minutes," Jace replies. "Don't hang up, I want to talk to you, until I get there okay?" Three minutes. I hope I can stay here unnoticed for three minutes, then everything will be okay.

"Jace, please what if he finds me?" I shutter panicking. "What if he finds me?"

"I promise you if so much as touches a hair on you're head, I'll kill him," Jace explains. "I'm almost there, just stay quiet."

"O......okay, I'll try to stay quiet," I stutter.

Jace

My phone rings and I hear Red's  panicked voice, "Red what's wrong?"

"I need you're help. Sebastian....he's drunk. I'm at his house, but I'm.... scared. I....am sort of........ hiding in a bush near the end of his driveway. Please come and get me," Red cries.

"I'm on my way Red, just stay where you are. I'll be there in three minutes," I gently explain. Why is she at his house this late? Don't think like that! You don't know want to know. Just let Red tell you if she wants. "Don't hang up, I want to talk to you, until I get there okay?"

"Jace, please what if he finds me?" Red trembles panicking. "What if he finds me?"

"I promise you if so much as touches a hair on you're head, I'll kill him," I calmly reply. "I'm almost there, just stay quiet."

"O......okay, I'll try to stay quiet," Red stutters. As I'm approaching his house, I turn my headlights off, so he cannot see me. I see Her. She looks so scared and fragile. Ugh, I want to kill Sebastian. I get out of my car and slowly approach her, so I don't scare her. "Jace," Red cries and runs to me. I hug her and she pulls away. "We've got to get out of here." Red's serious voice booms.

"Yeah, were leaving. Hey, why don't you stay at my house tonight? You can just call your mom and tell her you're staying at Izzy's house," I ask.

"Y...yeah," Red mumbles. She calls her mom and tells her she's staying with Izzy. I drive her to my house. I walk with her into the guest room and she sits next to me on the bed. While I embrace her, she collapses onto me . Sobs fall from her eyes and I hold her.

"Red, I'm sorry," I comfort as she sobs.

"Thank you....for coming to get me," Red replies. "I don't know what I did to deserve such a good friend." Friend, that's all you are! Don't forget it!

"Of course, we're friends," I reply. "It's....just, nevermind."

"What?" Red asks.

"Red....I'm trying to....be your friend, but it's hard," I stutter.

"Oh, Jace I don't even think about the possibility, that you didn't want to be my friend. I mean why would you. I'm nothing. I....I just thought-" I cry.

"No Red, you aren't understanding what I'm trying to say. I.....keep trying to be you're friend because I cling to idea, that it's better than nothing, but is it? It's hard because I see you with Sebastian and it feels like someone's punching my gut. The way he looks at you, it's killing me. He looks at you like you're a piece of meat. I just...."

"I know you're a protective friend, but you don't have to worry about how someone looks at me," Red explains.

"Angel Red!" I yell. "Can't you see?"

"See what Jace?" Red asks clueless.

"Red......I don't like the way Sebastian looks at you, because it's degrading," I half-lie. Red.......I don't like the way he looks at you, because it's degrading and it disgusts me. I like you and seeing him look at you like that makes me want to punch his face. Maybe...I'm a little jealous too I want to say, but I don't because she's just been through something with Sebastian and she only wants you to be her friend. You need to respect her decision.
