XL 24I was already so ashamed but I felt even more embarrassed when I saw what was prepared for dinner.
What I am sure of though, is that they're very pricey.
I suddenly remembered how Papa bragged about his adobong sitaw. Masarap din yun, kahit simple at mura. There's really nothing wrong about it pero parang pinipiga ang puso ko...
"Okay ka lang?" Treble whispered. Ngumiti ako ng alangan at nagpatuloy lang sa pag kain.
As promised, pinakita sa akin ng Papa ni Treble ang libro niya pagkatapos ng dinner.
"Wow! I've only seen the cover but I'm getting goosebumps." I muttered as I read his father's name on the cover. Marco Saldana.
"This is so cool," sambit ko habang pinipigilan ko ang sarili ko na sumigaw sa tuwa.
"Do you like it? I'll give it to you as a gift." Sir Marco said.
Lumaki ang mga mata ko. "Ibibigay niyo po ito sa akin? For free? For real?"
Tumawa siya ng marahan. "I can tell how much you love books, so I'll gladly give it to you free of charge."
Kamuntik na akong sumayaw sa harap niya. Nakakahiya.
"Thank you po, Sir. Thank you po talaga." Masayang sabi ko.
"I hope to receive a feedback from you about this book," aniya. "It's the first book I wrote that got published and I'd appreciate some comments from a writer like myself."
"Hala, ano naman ang mapupuna ko rito? I already think it's perfect!" I suddenly bit my lip. "Or am I just too thrilled right now? Oh my, I don't even dare call myself a writer yet..."
"Dapat ay masanay ka na." He said, smiling. "I have this feeling that you'll make it big."
"Magdilang anghel po sana kayo." Sabi ko, nakangiti rin.
"Trust me, it'll turn out fine," aniya. "But if I may ask, sino ang paborito mong writer?"
"Hmm... I think it would be Paulo Coelho? I was fifteen when I first read The Alchemist and I somehow memorized most of the lines."
"Really? I'm a fan of Coelho, too. I'm planning to give away some of his books during the acquaintance party. I usually host this game where I read a line from a book and then students guess what book the line is from."
"Tapos books 'yung premyo? And this time books pa ni Paulo Coelho? Woah! That's cool and very unique!" Excited na saad ko. I'm suddenly so pumped up.
"Unique talaga. Si Dad ang nakaisip nu'n eh." Treble commented, obviously so proud of his father. "Annual game na 'yun na inaabangan ng lahat."
"Ang swerte naman ng mga nananalo. Ang mahal kaya ng libro..." Saad ko. It's way more satisfying than receiving a 100-peso gift certificate. "...and they're precious, too."
"I hope you can win one this coming acquaintance party. You still have a few days to review." Anang Dad ni Treble.
"Pwede po ba akong mag-request?" Sabi ko. It was as if I lost my inhibitions because I was too excited about winning a book. Pakapalan na.
"Ano iyon?" He asked.
"Kapag nanalo ako, pwede po bang 'yung Hippie ang premyo ko? Hindi ko pa po kasi 'yun nababasa."
