CONNOR POV
Connor walked through the hall to the principals office. Most people in this situation would have been terrified or at least a little worried, but Connor felt like he was on top of the world. Damn, it felt good to hit that kid. He barely noticed his slightly throbbing hand as he tapped on the glass of the window on the principals door.
"Come in." Connor pushed it open and sat down across from the headmaster, absentmindedly picking at his already chipped nail polish. "Connor Murphy, this is unacceptable."
How the fuck did he hear about that so fast? Connor wondered without really caring.
"Okay great so I'm getting detention and probably community service right?" Connor asked, brushing the hair out of his eyes so he could look at the principal.
"Actually, this warrants a five day suspension," he said rather smugly. "So we will see you next week." Connor saluted lazily.
"Yessir." He said, grabbed his bag, and left the room. He walked down the hall to the front door of the school when his phone buzzed.
Unknown number: Hey I'm really sorry I didn't want you to get into trouble it's my fault and I hope you're not too mad.
Connor smiled down at his phone and put the contact name in before texting back.
Me: dont worry abt it. Its just a suspension.
Cutest Boy in the World: A SUSPENSION?? HOW LONG???
Me: only like 5 days its fine
Cutest Boy in the World: Meet me at the 7-11 over by the orchard after school.
Me: k cool
Connor turned his phone off and walked into the beautiful day. He breathed in the clean air and for the first time since he was a little boy, just enjoyed being by himself in the world. Suddenly his chest tightened.
If he was out for a week, who would protect Evan? Who would keep him safe from Thomas and the other dicks? He sat in the parking lot, unable to go anywhere without a car, the only one available being Zoe's. And Zoe was at school. With her keys. Shit.

-zz💙Connor tapped the ashes off of his cigarette as Zoe finally walked out of the school. It felt like forever even though it had only been a few hours.
"Jesus Christ, Connor what the hell were you thinking?" Zoe ran a hand through her hair and sat next to her brother on the curb.
"They were mean to him." Just the thought made him clench his jaw. "He had it coming." He said through gritted teeth.
"Evan? Someone was mean to Evan?" Zoe looked at Connor and in reply he took a long drag from his cigarette. He fingers were beginning to numb but he ignored it.
"I need your car." Connor said, not daring to make eye contact.
"Why?"
"I need to meet Evan at 7-11. Can you at least give me a ride?" Zoe rolled her eyes and stood up.
"Okay I'll give you a ride. If you do the dishes tomorrow instead of me."
"Deal." He said, and they shook on it. She unlocked her car door and he got in, putting out his cigarette.
On the way to the 7-11, Zoe bombarded Connor with questions. He tried to just nod and give short answers. When they got to the destination, he anxiously got out of the car. Once he saw Evan's sweet face, however he couldn't help but smile. He was holding two slushees.
"I-I want to sh-show you some-something." Evan said and pulled Connor towards his car. He handed him a blue raspberry slushee when he got in the front seat. "A-also I g-got this. Um, f-for you."
"Hey, thanks. You didn't have to do that." Connor grinned and took a long drink, resulting in a brain freeze. He leaned back and enjoyed the pain in his skull, until it went away.
Evan put the car into ignition and drove a short distance to a small house. He blushed. "I know it's n-not much..." he started. Connor stopped him.
"I think it's lovely." Evan looked over at him with sparking eyes.
"W-wait until y-you see the best p-part." He opened the door for himself and then for Connor before leading him inside. Connor desperately wanted to take his hand, but fought the urge and kept it to his side. The boys threw out their empty slushee cups and Connor followed Evan to the backyard. There was a small tree, no bigger than four feet tall. Evan looked back at him, eyes wide with anticipation of his reaction.
"Wow...it's beautiful." Connor said in awe. Evan wrapped his good arm (still with some fading bruises) around the tree and smiled, closing his eyes. Connor's heart began to swell. Evan was just so goddamned adorable.
"H-his name is A-Arnold. Iknowitsdumbtonameatreebutireallylovehimandiplantedhimmyselfsorryimramblingagain."
"I think it's cute when you ramble." Connor gently kissed Evan's head before putting his forehead on the other boy's. Evan was turning bright red. Connor's heart skipped when he felt Evan's arm wrap around his waist. He kissed him gently, pulling the shorter boy closer to him.
"Y-you're perfect." Evan whispered. Now it was Connor's turn to blush. He looked into Evan's blue eyes and cupped his face in one hand.
"EVAN! I'M HOME!" Connor recognized Heidi's voice coming from inside the house. She soon opened the back door. She gasped when she saw the two of them.
"M-mom I can ex-ex-explain.." Evan started.
"Oh my god!" Heidi screamed. "Finally! I knew my son would get a boy toy soon!" Evan smiled and waved awkwardly as she ran out and embraced me. I couldn't remember the last time I felt this safe.
"M-mom!" Evan protested. He scratched the back of his neck self consciously.
"Sorry, honey. I just knew you were meant for each other from the moment he brought you those flowers! What were they?"
"Marigolds." The two boys said at the same time.
"Right. Marigolds. Well, Connor, would you stay for dinner?" He was surprised that she remembered his name and even more surprised that she offered for him to stay. He nodded numbly. He wasn't used to people actually wanting him around.
He decided that he liked it.
