CONNOR POV

"He wasn't wearing his seatbelt." The doctor droned on in a monotone voice. "I'm so sorry." He continued, his voice lacking any amount of empathy.

Connor felt everything spin. He wasn't sure if he was standing, sitting, or laying on the ground at this point. He just knew that Evan not wearing a seatbelt was a direct result of Connor's influence.

Flashback brought to you by Will Roland getting engaged how iconic is that I love him

"Come on, slowpoke!" Connor said teasingly, pulling Evan down the hallway. The bell had just rung and it was a Friday.

"I-I'm coming!" Evan giggled, tripping over his own feet in an attempt to keep up. Connor grinned at his boyfriend as they made it out to the parking lot. Connor helped Evan into the passenger seat and slid into the driver's. He glanced over to see Evan carefully pulling on his seatbelt.

"Awh, c'mon Ev..." Connor said, grinning.

"It's c-called 'being safe.' Y-you should look it up s-sometime." Evan retorted, causing Connor to smile bigger. He loved when his anxious baby got all sarcastic with him.

"Ooh. Scary tough guy, huh?" Connor asked, poking Evan's side softly, causing the smaller boy to let out a small giggle that melted Connor's heart. "You know the orchard isn't far."

"Y-yeah, but-" Evan tugged at the collar of his shirt.

"Please..." Connor continued. "My prince?" He added with a grin, knowing Evan couldn't resist the nickname. He saw his boyfriend struggle to turn him down.

"But...wh-why?" Evan managed, pulling at the hem of his shirt.

"Because I need you to know that things aren't going to go terribly all the time. I promise I'll get you to the orchard safely. Even without a seatbelt." Connor said, taking his hands. Evan smiled and squeezed them lovingly.

"O-ok." He relented. "But o-only if you actually put y-yours on."

"Deal!" Connor crowed, pulling it on quickly as he heard the click of Evan's coming undone. Connor noted his boyfriend's shaking hands. "Hey. I'm gonna keep you safe." He told Evan reassuringly.

"P-promise?" Asked Evan, a small tremor in his voice.

"I promise."

End of flashback brought to you by my crushing guilt :)

Connor threw up all over the doctor's shoes, making the man curl up his lip in disgust. Connor didn't feel the least bit sorry. In fact, he didn't feel much of anything.

Except the overwhelming feeling that he had killed his husband.

He distantly heard someone call his name, and watched the world fall away in a haze.

Then everything went dark.
