EVAN POV
Evan walked to the doors, exiting the ballroom at about 12:30 am. Connor followed behind. The girls had left earlier, taking the car, so they had to walk. Evan was nervous because he didn't particularly like being outside at night, but he felt protected by Connor. He hooked his right pinkie with Connor's left, and started down the sidewalk.
Since Evan's house was closer, and Zoe and Alana could be at the Murphy's doing who knows what, so they decided to go to the Hansen's.
"I had fun." Connor said, sounding surprised.
"I'm glad! I'd hoped you w-would." Evan responded, smiling. He looked at Connor and god, he loved the way he looked with his hair pulled back.
"You good?" Connor asked, and Evan tore his gaze away.
"Y-yeah. Sorry. You just look really...nice." Why was it so hard to talk to him sometimes? Being around Connor, he occasionally felt that he was nothing more than a blubbering idiot. There was just no way he actually liked the mess that Evan was. It was like comparing Shrek to Andrew Rannells.
"Are you sure?" Connor stopped walking, an orange glow around him from the streetlights.
"Yeah. My b-brain is just being d-dumb. Overthinking and stuff."
"What's on your mind?" He asked softly.
"N-nothing it's fine. I always talk about m-myself and that's n-not fair." He continued walking.
"I love listening to you talk. I look forward to it, actually." Connor said, still by his side. Evan couldn't keep himself from smiling.
"Okay. If y-you're sure."
"Positive."
"I constantly feel like I'm n-not enough for you. You should have someone better. I don't know. I g-guess it just feels too good to be true." Embarrassed, he looked at the ground in front of them as they walked.
"I don't want better. I want you, Evan." Connor stated, stopping in his tracks. Evan, still connected at the pinkie, was forced to a halt. Connor turned to look at him, eyes wide and honest. "Surely you must believe that. I guess I haven't been a very good boyfriend if I haven't been making you feel that way." Evan's heart raced when he realized how whiny and ungrateful he must have sounded. "But," Connor continued, "it feels too good to be true to me as well. I never would have dreamed there'd be someone like you who would want me. I love you Evan, and I will never stop loving you. Okay?" Relief and love flooded Evan's body.
"O-okay. Sorry." Evan kept walking with Connor in tow.
"You don't need to apologize to me, remember?" He playfully pushed Evan with his cast. "God I can't wait to get this thing off." He shook his right arm as if to shake his cast off.
"Be careful!" Evan cried, reaching for the cast. Connor lifted it out of his reach, laughing. Evan let go of his other hand and jumped in attempt to get the cast.
"What are you gonna do if you get it?" Connor chuckled. "Are you gonna, like, break my arm more so I have to keep it on?"
"N-no! I'm just gonna..." Evan finally grabbed the cast and held it gently against his chest. "There. Now you can't hurt your a-arm anymore than it already is."
