~ Demi ~
I knew I was asleep the moment I found myself dreaming. It wasn't something I did often but when I was capable of such an action, it hallowed out all of my thoughts. There were no worries, no fears, nothing except full control of the outcomes at hand. My body slowly twitched as I opened my eyes. Selena jumped back a bit, her smile bright as she wished me a good morning. She had brushed her finger against my chin which startled me from slumber.
"I didn't want to wake you but your breakfast was getting cold." Her words confused me until I faced the nightstand at my side, a plate of food holding place there.
"What time is it?" I groaned, as she shrugged, sitting at my waist until I too joined her.
"Sometime after ten I presume."
"And everyone else?"
"Charlie refuses to leave her room while both Joe and Nick are hounding my parents about the interworking of home life." Selena rolled her eyes with a smile plastered against her skin. I quickly slid the plate of food onto my lap, studying the mountain of items.
"I'm not that hungry."
"You've only had one meal yesterday, and I know how much you enjoyed fruits on the island, so I cut up a ton of them for you." Selena tapped the porcelain bowl on the side of the tray I now held, showing me the grapes, chopped strawberries, bananas and blueberries.
"I'm still a bit exhausted." I admitted, finally plopping a blueberry into my mouth, studying the eggs on the side intensely.
"You can sleep for a bit more... after, you've finished."
I hadn't noticed how put together the brunette had been until she stood once more. She was walking around the room in a sundress of sky blue, her hair loosely falling against her shoulders as she rummaged through her own things. As I ate, I studied her, watching how comfortably she moved around the space.
"How long have you've lived here for... as child?"
"My entire life. Up until a few years ago after college...when I left." Selena tapped her desk, her back facing me.
"Why did you leave?"
"Isn't it obvious? My parents tried to make this a perfect world for me. They didn't allow me to get hurt or experience anything that could remotely be dangerous."
"They were looking out for you."
"No, they wanted to control me." After finding whatever it was she was looking for, Selena quickly sat in her computer chair. "I get why they shielded me from the world. But that wasn't living. At least not for me." Her brown eyes sparkled as she winked, turning to face her desk as a knock came to the door.
"So you admit that living with an Agent somehow gives you this thrill at life?" I rose my eyebrow as the brunette rolled her eyes, another knock coming to the door. "Come in." I called out as Selena tried turning to see who it was. Joe pushed his way through the door, closing it behind himself before taking in the site of the room.
"Of course it's you." Selena smirked.
"Demi, we have to plan our next move. I feel exposed just sitting around here." The man made his way over towards the bed as Selena turned to stand.
"We have to see what her dad wants us to do." I quickly bit into another grape as Joe studied me. He was silent for a moment, his eyes working across my figure before he faced Selena who was surprisingly now standing behind him.
