~ Selena ~

Demi, Nick and Charlie had all huddled up near my bedroom window, pinching at the drapes before confirming things with one another. I tilted my head watching each of them give a look to one another before they were glancing out of the drapes once more. Apparently there was already a group of people watching the house and if Joe had left out of either door, he sealed the rest of our fates.

"Guys..." I tried to begin as Nick rose his hand in the air. "Guys." I repeated. Nick turned his open hand into a fist before creating a knocking gesture. Charlie dashed out of the room, running down the hall although no sound seem to have echoed from her steps. "Guys."

"Sel." Demi tried to wave at me, telling me to get down on the ground as I crossed my arms.

"What's happening?" My voice brought both Agents to sigh, facing me before I was scolded by their eyes.

"Your house was already being watched. Someone is approaching." Demi informed as I paced towards the door. "Hey. Stay."

"This is my parents house. Shouldn't they know about this?"

"Your father is the reason they're here." Demi sighed, turning back towards the window as Nick stood.

"We have to find a place to lay low. You've got anything like that in this house?"

"No. But my father does have a gun room in the basement. It's pretty quiet and..." I was cut off by Nick darting past me before Demi made it to my side. "The room is locked however." I told her although her friend had already left. She had been thinking about something, her face hard and blank as she glanced past me.

"Ask your father for the code. Bring that bag of stuff to the basement. I'll grab Charlie." Demi paced towards the door before stopping, I could tell she was trying to keep a straight face for me, but her eyes were telling a different story. "Be quick, okay?" I silently nodded as the woman left the room. I made it downstairs in no time. My mother still prepping her food as if nothing had happened, my father on the other hand, stood in his yard, taking in the fresh air as I studied him. He seemed relaxed and observant as he took in one breath of fresh air after the other, surveying the land as my mother spoke up.

"There's a group of Agents in the trees." My mother called out as she smiled, kneading the dough that was in front of her.

     "Why are you grinning?"

"Pretend that we're having a normal conversation."

     "Why?"

"They can see through the windows my darling." My mother rose the dough into the air before slamming it back onto the counter. I knew Demi and her friends would stay away from the windows, but I myself had to have been seen by now.

     "Did Joe leave?"

"Oh no. Poor dear. I signaled with my eyes that we were being watched and he understood. He stayed away from the windows and..."

     "You signaled him?"

"It's quiet rude to interrupt when I'm speaking honey." My mom finally wiped her hands on her apron, moving across the room before pulling me into a hug. I could remember times as a child when she kept her distance from me, keeping our conversations cold and short. I wondered now if it was because we were being watched.

     "What's going on?" I whispered.

"A bonfire." My mother stated once more from earlier.
