Mistakes shall be corrected in the morning.
~ Demi~
This was the first time I had ever stalled before stepping into a helicopter. It was the first time my body felt like it was betraying me and I had no way of stopping it. It was also the first time tears streamed my face freely, and both guys were there to watch it. Maybe allowing a few tears to run against my cheeks was one thing and another entirely to break down in front of them. I was inconsolable as I strapped myself into my seat. The memory of Selena painfully calling my name shook my entire existence. I had to run without stopping, without looking back, and without allowing my heart to take over. The second I found the helipad, I was already a mess.
After about an hour of flight, we were just three more away from Florida. I had composed myself and set up my defenses internally. I would have to clear my mind and focus. Joe happily helped me to chat about procedures and techniques as Nick went through his own exercises in the back seat. We were going to go by our agent names up until the point where we infiltrated the facility. For the first time in forever, I was scared. Joe allowed me to lie against his chest, his arm holding onto me as I studied the passing clouds.
"Joe will drop in by sky." Nick reminded us. "I'll be taking the underground route which is highly fortified. And Demi..." he tapped my arm, "...you'll be taking the front door."
"It's about time Joshua and I part ways." I mumbled as the guys studied me confused. The humming of the helicopter was soothing as we prepared for our first landing. I found it quite difficult to keep my mind clear, but asked for the guys to continue to speak, even if it was about nothing at all. Nick found it useless, but did so without many complaints.
"Who would of thought we'd be in this situation again?!" Joe shook me a bit, laughing to himself as I understood what he meant. So many things happened to us in our lifetime that many people wouldn't understand. But we were each other's comfort.
"Selena's lucky to have us." Nick called out as his brother shot him a look. He said those words in order to get Joe's arm from around me. I pushed away, sitting up before my heart began drumming in my ears once more. The ache tugged against my chest as the brunette's confused eyes flashed through my mind. Her voice wailing and numbing my memory.
"They won't allow you to just walk into that place. Especially not armed." Nick slid up between our seats, snapping me out of thought. "You'll have to find a way to lose all of that tactical gear and store something where you'll least suspect to get searched.
"Joshua isn't stupid." I rolled my eyes. "He knows all of my tactics. I'll just have to go in there and hope for the best." Honestly, there was no real plan on what was going to happen once I stepped through those double doors. My mind had been racing the entire time on the helicopter until we landed. The jet we took from there was equipped with tons of heavy looking potato sacks and other equipment.
"Ha-ha, dummies." Nick poked one of them, almost causing the sand to spill out over the seat. Joe was still studying me, his features soft and caring as I rolled my eyes, taking notice of my reflection through the windowpane. This final mission, was truly, the final one. There was nothing coming after this. We would most likely die, possibly a painful death, but at least we would destroy the Agency.
"When we land..." I began. "I'll talk to Joshua and hear what he has to say." I sighed before facing the youngest of us all. "Nick. I'll need you to make your way into the control room and find the switch for the main training area. In that room should be a lever or something for the simulated flames."
"You mean, the real flames that they call a simulation?" He ran his fingers through his hair, remembering back to when his scalp was torched as a teen, I was sure.
