~ Selena ~
I couldn't pinpoint what time of day it was when I sat up in bed. Demi had left, leaving the bedroom door and front door open. I could hardly make out the grass in the distance but I could definitely see the sunlight grazing the ground. Cupping the bed sheet around my body I shuffled towards the door to peer out. There was nothing but mountains for miles, no person in sight. But just as I turned to shut the door, geared up agents began running down the hill. Not wanting to be spotted, I ducked into the cabin, closing the door as they past.
"Demi, where are you?" I mumbled to myself. These were Tyler's people, but I couldn't pinpoint what they were running from, or why. I quickly rushed into the room to change, tossing on some black shorts and a top. My shoes sat at the door, quickly pulling those on before making my way up the hill. Maybe it wasn't a smart thing to do, running towards what I assume was where the problem started. After a few minutes of jogging, stopping and catching my breath, I saw Nick standing with Tyler. I assed the situation before trailing towards the men.
"Selena, we aren't training today." Nick sharply spoke.
"Why not?" I shook my head, "I thought you wanted to make sure I could defend myself." I smirked, but his stern look never ceased. "What's wrong?" I glanced between the men, silence engulfing the air. Before I could question them once more, Joe and Demi began trailing from the distance. Once they appeared near us, they were dressed up in all black gear, as if they were readying themselves for some type of backlash.
"Sel, you should get some more sleep." Now Demi rarely called me this, which peaked my interest in whatever was going on even more.
"I'm good." I nodded.
"We're doing our full training today." She stepped over, her eyes trying to calm me but honestly, I could tell something was wrong.
"I'll hang out with Nick." I admitted.
"I'm going into training as well." He muttered. Just days ago he was in no shape to walk by himself, there was no way he should be moving in such motions. I was no match for Demi and Joe in training, but seeing them in action, Nick wouldn't be ready for them either.
"What's going on?" I stated from earlier, this time in front of the two people I knew hadn't heard my question. All eyes were on me as Tyler stepped between us all.
"Building one." He instructed, waving his finger into the distance as everyone, excluding myself gave him a nod. I didn't want either of the people before me lying, so I allowed them, including Demi, to walk away without another word. But they were definitely underestimating me. Maybe I wasn't good in tactical training or handling a gun, but I knew how to get information when I needed it. The short walk back to the cabin was a piece of cake, pulling up the tablet Tyler and his team issued us to search the Agency's information. The first thing that came up, flashing in a 'red' bulletin was a number. I quickly tapped into the files, scrolling through whatever all these numbers meant and found the one displayed.
Issued on the front page was an alert to capture or eliminate the following targets. There were at least twenty pages of photographs followed by names and locations. Some were already 'x'-ed out. I couldn't decipher what was going on, but I knew this must have had something to do with the training taking place. At the very top of the list, sat Joe and Nick's name. My name, although close to theirs, flashed in this yellow banner, indicating I was to be captured. Maimed at most, but captured alive. I dropped the tablet onto the bed, my eyes trying to focus on the room. If my life was now in jeopardy, I had every right to train to protect myself. I maneuvered a few of the files on the device around after catching my breath, quickly trying to access whatever information Demi had to crack into last night. More numbers began to pop up, followed by a small blinking stream of unfamiliar codes.
