~ Demi ~
Joe and I sat in a city taxi as it swerved from the airport and made its way into town. Joe studied me as I faced him annoyed. The flight back to Florida forced me to think back on what I was getting myself into. The past was meant to be left in the past and now I was going back to it. Joe watched me carefully, his eyes studying my every wavering action. I could see that he was slowly starting to see me as every one else. I was weak in his eyes, normal so to speak. As the taxi stopped near the main gate, Joe climbed from the vehicle and instructed me to do the same.
"I bet Joshua is going to be thrilled to see me." I sarcastically spoke as we made it up the road. The first agent to spot me studied me intently before Joe explained the situation to him. It went on like that for a few more agents and soldiers just before we made it to the main doors.
"I need you to follow my instruction down to the very breath I take."
"Joe, I got this." I walked past him as he followed behind, annoyed. Inside a few voices filled the air but the place had seemed to go back to normal. Soldiers didn't crowd the place nor did agents take shelter in the space before me. I watched as Joe stepped to the right of me, his eyes hardly landing on my frame.
"Joshua is in his office. He can't know that I went to Hawaii, so I need you to make up some fabricated story. I did however meet you at the airport. I'll take whatever he has to throw at me for that betrayal." Joe stepped away, "I'll meet you in the lobby at fifteen hundred hours." He didn't give me time to protest, walking away and into the hall as I took a deep breath. The cameras which now sat against the walls followed my every move. Joshua knew I was here and he knew I came for a favor.
As I arrived at his office, two men in suits, whom I've never seen before, faced me. They hadn't said a word until I approached the door.
"Joshua is in a meeting. If you have not been summoned, you are not welcomed." One of the men spoke up. I didn't have time to play along nor give them information about my previous status. I studied the men, holding my ground as they narrowed their eyes onto me.
"This can end in one of two ways. The first one, is me getting into that office without harming either of you. And the second, is me knocking the both of you unconscious and still getting into that room. It's your choice." Both men were facing one another, pondering if I was serious or not. I knew that they looked down on me because I was one person they had never seen before, standing in front of them in a night shirt and jeans. Before I could give them any time to go over their options, the door swung open and Joshua looked out at me.
"How dare you come into this place as if you have any authorization. And the audacity you have coming up to the office door as if I owe you something."
"You owe me everything." I stated, pushing past the two buff guards and into the room. The few people who sat around the table gazed upon me as if I had to be disposed of. Their noses turned up at me as they went over my attire. Joshua silently followed, closing the door before looking among his men. Among the faces, sat Nick, his eyes full of annoyance with a hint of anger. "Hello boys." I waved.
"Please do inform us how you made it into our headquarters without so much as a bullet going through your skull." Joshua made his way back to his chair, sitting alongside the men.
"Well I could tell you I was trained in such things but you wouldn't believe me." My voice was being recorded as each and every man took it upon themselves to mumble under their breath. That was, all of them except Nick.
