~ Demi ~Joe faced me. Both Selena and Nick were going back and forth with their defense training and I was actually surprised by how easily the movements came to the brunette sparing with him. Joe however was annoyed with the woman. Just hours ago she had thrown every obstacle in front of him without mercy. It was kind of funny to see him angrily punching at a wall or two. But as he stared at me, his eyes sort of sent confused signals.
"Just say whatever it is that you want to say." I encouraged him, turning back to face the two sparing down below.
"You don't think it's weird that she's good at this?"
"Nick isn't putting all of his effort in, so no, I don't."
"Are you blind?" Joe questioned as I rolled my eyes. "What if they've somehow trained her to infiltrate our agency. Well, what was left of it."
"Joe. I get that you're upset because she kicked your ass today using a computer, but let's not get all uptight." I smiled at the man as he narrowed his eyes towards Selena. Tyler had been on the lower level watching Nick's movements like a hawk. The man was still pale, but he fought through his exhaustion as we were taught to do. I had to embrace these last few hours because I knew we'd all be heading back to Florida. Well, everyone besides Selena. I didn't know how she was going to take it, but I knew I had to leave her behind.
"Damn it Nick!" Joe yelled down at his brother. "Stop taking it so easy on her."
"Hey, you." I poked the man's arm as he gritted his teeth. "What's gotten into you?"
"We're losing precious training time having my brother babysit her. But you don't care, she's always first in your mind."
"And you should get over this entire jealously thing that you have against her." I readied myself to make it down the stairs. Nick had swung his arm over his shoulder striking Selena against the side of the face. I was literally about to climb down this wall if it wasn't for the brunette quickly ducking to grab his leg, pulling him down when he thought she was going to retreat. My heart was still pounding, anger filling me, but I kept my cool.
"We might have to leave him here as well." Joe announced as I faced him. He had gotten over his little childish antics for now, as we made it down the steps and into the training room. Selena's cheek was beaming red, but Nick on the other hand was gripping his pained side, breathing in with a smile on his face.
"You all should head on in for the night. Tomorrow is our last day of training before we regroup with the agents in Los Angeles. We'll be heading to Florida from there." Tyler had spoken up, as Selena happily embraced Nick. He winced in pain but hadn't pushed her away. Moments later, we all were shuffling through the trees heading back to the cabins. Joe hadn't left my side, mumbling under his breath about the brunette. Selena was still her happy and peppy self, giggling as she spoke to Nick just ahead. The night air seemed almost thick, as if a fog had rolled over. As we neared the hill overlooking our cabins, our visibility became poor. The only light around here came from the moon brushing over the landscape.
"Stop." Nick held his fist up into the air about halfway, looking ahead as we did what was asked. We were standing in silence until Selena faced me.
"What is it?" She asked, awaiting an answer as Joe scoffed at my side.
"Shush." I warned her, looking over Nick's shoulder as I neared him. Just below, someone was moving around our cabins, studying them it seemed. After hours of training, my body ached, I wasn't in the mood to defend myself, but would do so if necessary.
