Remnant's Knightfall (Rwby X Bane Reader)

Part 36

I lay on my bed looking out the window, thinking about the events that happened two days ago. I glanced at the batarang lying on the bedside table before looking up at the ceiling.

Is this how it ends Bruce? Is this where it all comes to a close?

I sighed and shook my head, as I lay back I looked at Neo asleep beside me, I placed my arm around her and quietly moved closer.

As I closed my eyes I felt her move closer to me and a small whimper coming from her. My eyes opened and I looked at her shaking slightly in her sleep, before I could do something she suddenly sat up and looked around wildly. She then pulled the covers around her shoulders and leaned into my chest while shaking fearfully.

I placed one arm around her shoulder and gently held her while she calmed down. I looked at her and cupped her cheek in my palm.

"Nightmares again?"

She nodded and buried her head into my chest as I embraced her. She took a deep breath and picked up her scroll.

Every time it's the same. Cinder, she's there, chasing me through Vale. When I think I've finally escaped her she catches me, and burns me alive.

She shudders and I pat her head. She then looked at me and held up her scroll.

But there was something different about this one. Someone else was there, the fires disappeared and there was a bright light with a strange symbol in the center. Then I woke up.

"A symbol? What did it look like?"

She shakes her head.
I don't remember. It was too bright, I couldn't see it properly.

I nod and lie back down with her beside me, she lays her head on my shoulder and I pull the covers over both of us.

"You're safe, nothing will happen to you Neo. I promise."

As she falls asleep l place a kiss on her forehead before closing my eyes.

When morning came we both got messages, Neo apparently was going to be Croc's partner for a mission. As she got dressed I took two small vials from my closet and placed them in my vest. One was filled with a green liquid, the other had a small amount of black fluid inside.

As I turned towards the door she walked out of the bedroom in her usual outfit. We made our way towards the school and I saw Croc standing at the entrance. As he walked towards us I stopped him  before he left towards a Bullhead docked nearby.

"Keep her safe Croc."

He gave me an odd look before nodding as him and Neo boarded the Bullhead. I watched them fly off before continuing towards the school, as I reached my old dorm I looked inside and saw Ivy standing beside several potted plants with glowing veins running through their stems.

"It's facinating, how plants from our world react to dust. So many different results."

"All of them positive I hope?"

"To an extent yes, but I doubt you're here to discuss botany. So, how can I help you Bane?"

I held up both Vials.
"I need you to analyse these two. See if you can combine them somehow."

She glanced at the green vial curiously before taking it to a nearby desk where a microscope had been set up. She looked at both liquids before typing something on her scroll, after a few minutes she nodded.

"It's possible, although the side effects could be potentially dangerous. Why do you want me to do this?"

"Just in case...."

She shook her head before sighing.
"Alright, I'll work on it."

"Thank you Ivy, I'll drop by later to see how it goes."

She nodded and I left the room. As the door closed behind me she looked at the text on her scroll before turning her gaze towards the vials on her desk.

"I hope you know what you're doing Bane."

Meanwhile I walked outside of Beacon and took out my scroll before dialing a number. After a few rings the other person answered.

"So, you're calling in a favor?"

"That's right. Landon West and his gang, mostly petty robbers but recently they are bad for buisness. You know what to do?"

"Consider it done."

(Two hours later)

I ducked under the blade before kicking the wielder in the side of his knee, he stumbled back hopping on his good leg before I disarmed him.

As the knife clattered on the ground I grabbed him by his throat and choke slammed him into the ground. I then grabbed his hand and took his two middle fingers.

"Junior Xiong gives you and your gang a week to leave Vale, as well as a small taste of what will happen to you if you decide to stay."

With a loud crack I broke first one then another of his fingers earning cries of pain from the teenager in front of me. I turned around and walked away from the sobbing man clutching his hand to his chest.

I made my way towards the club and was greeted by the twins at the entrance, they followed my towards the bar where Junior sat. I took a seat beside him with the twins on my lap and shoulder.

"Problem solved boss."

He looked at me as I spoke to him,  nodding he motioned for the bartender to pass me a beer.

"Great, finaly those deadbeats are leaving. Here Bane, this one is on me."

I opened the bottle with my knife before pouring some of it into my flask. As I drank I discussed various subjects with the twins. Eventually I passed the now empty bottle back over the bar and looked at the two girls sitting besidr me.

"I'm afraid this is where I take my leave."

"Be safe out there."
Melanie said as I got up from my seat.

"And say hello to Neo for us."
Miltia shouted as I waved goodbye from the entrance of the club.

As I walked away I saw two people following me. I sighed and debated what I should do.

Don't want to be followed back to the appartment, looks like I'll be taking a slight detour.

I rounded the corner and sprinted off before they realized where I had gone. After doubling back and taking several side roads I ended up arriving at a small open space in between the alley.

After a few minutes two people showed up, my eyes widened in surprise as I recognized them. With a grin I dropped out of my hinding place and looked as their expressions changed from haughty to terrified.

Mercury readied his legs and Emerald fearfully held up her sickles. I laughed at their appearance and cracked my knuckles.

"How kind of Cinder, sending two of her underlings. I'll be happy to return you two to her, in body bags."

I raised my fist and the others got readied their weapons. A grin formed on my face before I lashed out towards them.

And so it begins.
