Shane's PoV -
Devin and I were on a mission in Oceanus. It had taken forever to get here but once we got to the beach it would all be worth it. It was almost nightfall and our mission would begin in the morning so Devin and I both agreed to spend the rest of the day at the beach.
I looked out over the water from the railing on the ship. I could see Oceanus in the distance and it would be much longer before we made land fall. I was eager to get to the beach. The crocodile part of me wanted to swim in the ocean as much as I could while I was here. But I had a job to get done, so tonight might be my only chance to swim. The ocean below seemed to taunt me.
It was the exact opposite for Devin. He hid in his cabin for the majority of the day, he was incredible sea sick. He hated water almost as much as his ex spirit animal did. I wanted to spend time with him but at the same time I liked being on deck and watching the waves crash into the side of the boat. So to comprise I alternated between spending time with Devin and the ocean.
A few minutes later and we finally made land fall. I ran to the cabin and found the sea sick Devin. He was more than happy to hear that we had reached land, for the most part. We still had to take a smaller boat the rest of the way.
We gathered our things and loaded them into the small boat and hoisted it down into the waves below. I jumped into the boat eagerly. Devin still stood on the deck looking down at me. "Come on, jump," I patted a place next to me in the boat trying to encourage him.
He shook his head,"what if I fall into the water?"
"Then I'll pull you out, nothing to be afraid of," I smiled up at him.
"Fine," Devin said with a sigh, he half jumped and half stepped off the deck.
For being part cat, Devin, really was ungraceful. I caught him just before he went tumbling into the water. He clung onto me with his claws didn't into my back. "Devin, your safe now, could you please stop clawing me?" I asked only slightly annoyed.
"S-sorry," he stuttered, he was scared, he unsheathed his claws but continued to hold onto me for dear life.
I sighed and grabbed an oar and began paddling our way to shore. The place where we docked was mostly uninhabited which was good, it meant we would attacked less attention.
Finally, we made it to land and Devin bound out of the boat and onto the ground. I smiled a little at this, I had to admit, Devin could be rather adorable sometimes. I drug the boat onto the shore so it wouldn't float away.
Devin and I grabbed our supplies and quickly made our tent and organized everything inside. We were free to go swim now that our camp was set up. "Yay, you ready to go swimming now?" I asked Devin.
"Well, I'm definitely not swimming but I'll stay on the shore and watch you swim," he replied.
I didn't reply but instead grabbed his hand and drug him to the nearby beach. I let his hand go after we git there and immediately dove into the ocean t- shirt, sandals, and all. I surfaced above the water to find Devin laughing at me. I spat some water out of my mouth, "Why are you laughing?"
"You didn't even take your shirt off," Devin continued to laugh, "I'm sorry but you seem like the kind of guy who would want to show off his muscles."
"Yeah, I liked to before I became part crocodile," I hissed.
"It's only the two of us here," Devin tried to convince me.
"So what's that matter, I'm still self conscious of my scales," I had walked over to where Devin sat on the sandy beach.
Devin simply shrugged. He still chuckled a little. I smirked and grabbed onto Devin and carried him towards the ocean, bridal style. "WHAT THE HELL, SHANE, LET ME GO!" Devin cried.
It was too late, I dunked him under water. It was my turn to laugh now at the drenched Devin who looked absolutely horrified at the surrounding water. His brown hair was matted to his head and his claws dug into my skin. I didn't care, his reaction was hilarious, "Hey, that's what you get for laughing at me," I smirked at him.
Devin, growled at me as he tried to claw his way to my shoulders to be out of the water. "Will you take your shirt off now, since you drenched me with water?"
"Devin, no," I replied definitely.
"Fine, then I'll help you with that," Devin stated with a smirk from his place on my shoulders.
A sharp pair burst down my back and Devin had completely shredded my t-shirt with his claws, nicking my skin some as well. After that I easily knocked Devin off my shoulder and into the waters below. The two of us had a water fight after that, we splashed each other. It started out with us at each other's throats but later we ended up laughing. Devin managed to claw his way away from me to make it back to land.
It was dark now so I gathered what was left of my t-shirt and made my way to Devin who was curled up relaxing in the sand. "It's dark, you ready to go back to the tent now?" I asked Devin.
He smiled up at me and stretched. "Yeah, I'm tired," Devin replied and stood up, "you know, I'm glad I clawed your t-shirt off you."
We turned to walk back to camp. "Why's that, it hurt?" I questioned.
"Because, Shane, I don't know if you've never looked in a mirror but in case you haven't noticed, your hot!" Devin smiled up at me.
My face burned bright red and I awkwardly looked away but I couldn't help but smile, "uh, thanks."
