Shane's PoV -

     "Hey guys," I smiled and politely greeted my crew who all sat around the lunch table together.

     They all mumbled a greeting of some sort and I scooted into my normal seat next to Karmo and Alix. This was our first day back to school since the summer and there was an excitement to being back, or at least I looked at it that way, Devin always complained on the first day back to school. I noticed a (h/c) haired girl who sat in front of me, I'd never seen her around here before. I flashed a small smile at her, "Are you new here?"

     "Hm, yeah, I just moved here, my name's (y/n), nice to meet you," she smiled back and I felt my heart flutter just a little.

     "I'm Shane, maybe I can show you around later," I adverted my attention to the soup in front of me to keep from blushing.

     "That would be great, thanks," (y/n) replied and continued her conversation with Abeke.

     Rollan nudged me and wiggled his eyebrows with a nonchalant gesture to (y/n). I simply rolled my eyes.

     After lunch I showed (y/n) around the halls. It was nice to spend some time with her and get to know her better. I wondered if she felt the same about me, maybe we could get to be friends or maybe, possibly, more than friends. All too soon the bell rang and we had to hurry to our classes, which sadly we didn't share any of the same. I trotted over to my friend Conor and together we walked to math, "You like the new girl, don't you?" Conor smiled.

     "Truthfully, yeah," I sighed knowing I could trust Conor to keep my secret, "she's just kinda special in some way, she makes me happy and I want to get to know her better."

     Conor smiled and playfully punched me on the arm as we entered hell in the form of math.

     Lather that day I wonder the halls during study hall, I was bored and it seemed like this day would never get over, math had been especially hard today and put me in a bad mood. I didn't particularly know where I was going, just wherever my feet took me. I was on the second level of the Erdas High School when I heard what sounded like a fight in the otherwise quiet hallway. I hurried down the hall following the sound of punches. If it was someone I liked getting beat up I would help them but if I didn't like the kid getting beat up I would help punch them, that's just how I am. Turns out it was someone I really liked, that someone was (y/n).

It was outside the computer lab but no one else was around so I jumped in front of (y/n) and shoved the bully into the wall. His head hit hard but he stood up and tried to shake it off, he lunged at me. "Don't you know that you should never hit girls!" I grunted through clenched teeth and blocked a punch the dude threw at my jaw.

"This bitch broke my flipping computer," he landed a punch to my forehead.

"I'm sorry but it was you who knocked over my water," (y/n) voice spoke softly from behind me.

I butted my head into the bullies' nose, he swayed on his feet and blacked out, landing with a satisfying thud moments later. "You saved me!" (y/n) rushed over and hugged me, my heart fluttered.

"Are you okay?" I asked, she had a swollen eye which would later cause a black eye and a tad of blood dripped from her nose.

"I'm fine, thanks to you but are you okay?" she smiled that beautiful smile of hers.

"I think I'm good," I replied but now that she mentioned it I was a tad dizzy and my whole face hurt like hell but I wasn't about to mention that.

"Let's go to the nurses office," she replied seemingly seeing right through me.

With that we walked to the nurses office, as soon as the nurse looked up and saw our face she was rushing to get an ice pack. We sat in chairs next to each other. "Thanks again for saving me back there," she smiled shyly.

"No problem, that dude is a jerk," I grinned.

She just chuckled a cute laugh. The nurse handed us some ice packs and we graciously took them, "Have you been in a fight?" the nurse asked.

"Yeah," we both sighed but the nurse didn't reply instead she must have went to tell the principal.

     Moments later the principal walked up to us and actually said we did the right thing but that I shouldn't have been so eager to fight. Thankfully the jerk was conscious again and in the principal's office to serve a detention. We left the office and I decided to walk (y/n) back to her class, just before she entered the room to her study hall she kissed my cheek, "Thanks again," then she entered her room.

I stood there for a second in shock the I felt a slap on my back, "Get some!" Rollan smirked.

I just walked back to my class and flipped Rollan the bird.
