Yup, another chapter...
-----------Conor's PoV -
Thankfully Devin and I had been as close as ever. I accepted him and I forgave him for not telling me his secret for so long. I understand the difficulties of that as much as anyone. Even my friends were cool with Devin's new look, except Uraza, she missed Elda.
The only problem was, Devin still felt like he didn't belong. Not only because of his new features but also because he was an ex-Conquer living in a castle of Greencloaks. That had to be awkward. Luckily Devin always felt comfortable around me.
As much as I love Devin being just next door, I knew that Greenhaven was no place for him. Certain Greencloaks would glair at him from time to time and regardless he would have to leave after Trunswick was rebuilt. I needed to find a safe place for my boyfriend and I needed to find it soon. I just had to find a nice way to propose this idea to Devin.
"Dev, I need to talk with you," I stated as I walked into my boyfriend's room after supper.
Devin's was curled up in his bed writing a letter, "Yeah, what's up?"
I sat down on the bed, next to Devin, "Where are you going to stay once Trunswick is rebuilt, I know you well enough to know that you don't want to go back there."
Devin sat up, focusing all his attention on me as his letter was forgotten, he sighed, "You're right, I don't want to go back there, everyone would hate me."
I held my boyfriend's hand, "We'll find somewhere safe for you, somewhere you can be happy."
Devin kissed me, "Thanks, Conor."
"How about tomorrow we go look for this place?" I ask.
Devin looked surprised but then smiled, "That sounds good."
My promise to Devin still haunted my mind as we sat off the next morning. Devin and I prepared a small ship for our trip. Eura was our first stop on finding the perfect place for Devin.
Devin and I set off to Eura. The waters were calm and we arrived there in no time. As we were unloading the ship I asked, "So do you want to go to Trunswick or should we just skip that stop?"
"It might be nice to visit my brother but I didn't plan on staying for longer than necessary," Devin sighed, "Trunswick just isn't a place for me anymore."
I nodded not quite knowing how to reply to that. I offered a small smile before Devin and I continued our hike towards Trunswick.
Hours passed and it was starting to get dark so Devin and I set up camp. I made a fire and cooked some dinner for us while Devin got our tent ready. Halfway through dinner a wolf's howl echoed from reasonably close by. Devin heard it to and pulled me closer to him knowing just how afraid I was of wolves, well besides Briggan. I was shaking in fear but Devin's comforting arm around me helped to ease my worries. Once we finished our dinner and the fire was put out, Devin and I crawled into our tent. I cuddled close to Devin under the blankets and moments later I felt the familiar feeling of turning into my sheep form. Devin was already asleep so I made myself comfortable and soon fell asleep.
I awoke feeling very warm. I squirmed out from under the blankets. Briggan bolted into our tent and nuzzled me, trying to tell me something. I followed my wolf, it was still dark out but a bright glow was being emitted from outside our tent. With a small struggle I made my way out of the tent only to be meet with a rush of heat. Flames were quickly spreading, nearly reaching our tent! The forest was on fire. I ran back into the tent and jumped on Devin. He didn't wake up so I jumped a bit more knowing my hooves would be just painful enough to wake him up. Thankfully Devin did wake up this time, "Oh... hey Conor..." Devin mumbled groggily.
