Devin's PoV -
It was late at night and I prowled the dark forest. Eura was beautiful this time of year and especially at night. Being part cat meant you loved the night. Not only because of the cat side of my genetics but also because it was the only time I could get out of my hiding places. The only time when no one could see me and judge me or be scared of me. I loved the night.
My cat ears twitched as I listened to the sounds of the forests. Then I heard something that didn't quite belong. I crouched low, ready to run if I had to, and listened. I heard very quiet whispering and the sound of humans moving through the brush, though it was obvious they were trying to be quiet. My heart began to race and my muscles screamed for me to run or hide. I kept low, staying quiet, trying to keep still. The humans were closing in and I had to make a decision and I had to make it fast. Keep still or run? That was my only option.
I choose option 2 seeing no other way out. I took off with a bound of energy and kept running. I could here the humans pursuing me, by the sounds of it I guessed there were maybe 5 or 6 people in the group. They were fast but I was faster. I knew the forest well, I had spent my whole life here. I jumped over brush and slid under tree limbs. I was putting distance between the humans and myself, it would only be a matter of time till I lost them completely. Then I stumbled over a vine. I tripped and fell. The next thing I knew a net lifted me into the air and I hung there helpless. I clawed at the net but it was made of flexible strong wire and my claws couldn't penetrate it.
The humans caught up moments later. A tall blond regal looking boy walked over to me. I tried to claw at him to wipe that smirk off his face but I couldn't reach through the tiny holes in the netting. "You'll do handsomely," the boy grinned with a thick accent I didn't recognize as he held up a needle with some kinda liquid in it.
The boy shove the needle into my thigh and I suddenly felt dizzy. A darkness took over me as I felt the net give way and dump me to the ground. I felt cuffs tighten around my wrist and ankles. Then I blacked out completely as I felt myself being lifted by strong arms.
I woke to a bright light and the sound of people talking. My head still hurt and I felt groogy. I sat up and found myself trapped in a metal cage. The cage was reasonably small, only enough room for me to stand up in and walk only a pace or two, but the room my cage was held in was enormous with high ceilings and large windows letting in much light. A metal thrown sat a few yards away from me and the blond regal looking boy sat upon in looking very important. A guard stood next to him and what seemed to be an advisor stood talking to him.
Soon the advisor was finished and was dismissed by the apparent king. He also waved his guard away and we were alone in the large room. The king stood and talked as he walked over to me, "I see you've waken up."
I growled, "Wonderful observation."
"Oh, sassy like a cat, how fascinating," the king smirked, "What's your name?"
"Why should I tell you?" I hissed and crossed my arms definitely.
"Well I'll just have to call you Kitten till you tell me but you may refer to me as King Shane or your highness," Shane flashed a mischievous smile.
"If you must know I'm Devin," I regretted to inform him, "You must think you're all that but I was born to a noble family."
