Conor's PoV -

I sat on my bed attempting to read a book but I couldn't concentrate I kept hearing singing. It was actually very beautiful and I needed to know who was singing. I lay my book down marking my page and got up to see where the singing was coming from.

I wandered the hall a little ways letting my hearing lead the way. Oddly enough the normally busy halls of Greenhaven were empty. I followed the beautiful sound to the shower rooms, the singing mixed with the sound of running water. I wandered further, a red cloak and a featureless mask hung on a hook next to the shower. Shane was one of the few Redcloaks that stayed at Greenhaven, so officials from both the Redcloaks and Greencloaks could plane their next missions in keeping Erdas safe. Who knew Shane was that good of a singer? I sat and listened for a while.

Finally, the noise of the running water ended but he kept singing, quieter now. I ran out into the halls, I didn't want Shane to know that I had been listening to him. I hid under a small table and peaked out into the hall. I didn't know why but I just wanted to see Shane. A few minutes later Shane walked out into the empty halls still drying his light blond hair with a towel. He wore his usual uniform and red cloak but somehow he looked different now. He seemed cute, I'd never quite looked at him that was before. I caught myself smiling as I stared at him, was I in love with Shane?

Later that day a meeting was called. I joined my friends around the table. "What's this meeting about?" I asked Rollan.

He shrugged and it was Abeke who answered, "I think Olvan's planing on having a musical and he's asking for people to join."

I nodded and my mind wandered to Shane, he should join, I thought about complementing him on his singing but then he would know about me listening to him in the shower today so I decided against it. "Hey, Conor, do you mind if I sit next to you?" Shane asked asked as he stood next to me, I froze instantly.

"U-uh, yeah, p-please do," I replied, half stuttering.

Shane smiled and took his seat next to me. "What's Olvan wanting to talk to us about?" Shane asked.

I tried to bring myself to make eye contact with him but I was too nervous, I always got nervous around people I had a crush on. "Abeke, told me he was going to talk to us about practicing in a musical," I smiled.

"That's cool but I'm not very good at singing," Shane sighed.

I blurted out before I could think. "Are you crazy, your singing is beautiful!"

"W-when have you heard me sing before?" Shane asked with an embarrassed stutter.

I had to tell him the truth now. "Today in the shower, you were singing, and I thought the singing was beautiful so I went to see who it was, I saw your mask and cloak in the shower rooms and I was too embarrassed to compliment you afterwards," I stated blushing the entire time.

"Why would you be embarrassed," Shane questioned.

If my face wasn't red with blush before it was now. "I think I fell in love with you, your singing made me realize that, I hid in the hall after listening to you sing and when you walked out you looked different than I had ever seen you before, I thought you were cute."

"Oh," Shane replied, I wished I could see his face, maybe then I could see how he felt about me.

He grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers. "Follow me," Shane stated as he stood up and pulled me along.

We turned a corner in the hall and Shane stopped and faced me. He lifted his mask and brought his lips to mine. I was shocked but I kissed back. I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him closer to me. A moment later we broke the kiss and stared into each other's eyes. I'd never seen Shane before without his mask, he looked adorable. I traced the scales on his neck with my thumb. He blushed a little at this. "So will you join the musical if I do?" Shane asked me.

"Of course, but your doing the singing," I replied.
