It was a beautiful day outside, the Nilonian morning air was crisp and everything was peaceful. Nilo was nothing like Eura but it was still a beautiful country anyway, only it was a little humid.
I walked along the busy market street, I watched as a young gentleman helped an older woman cross the street. I smiled, the world needed more of that... but then the young man grabbed the laddies' purse and began to run. The old lady immediately sprung into action, for her old age she was still pretty fast though the boy still out paced her. I chased after them both, wanting to see how this ended.
The chase lead to a dead end ally, then the old woman pulled a gun. I had no idea who was in the right and who was in the wrong, things had escalated so quickly. The boy screamed and tossed the lady her purse but that wasn't good enough for the old woman. She pulled the trigger, the boy hit the dirty floor hard, blood oozing from his head. I didn't know what to do but my instincts kicked in. I pushed the old lady down, "Why?!" was all I could yell at her, why take that boy's life, he wasn't inocente but still... he didn't deserve to die!
When she hit the dirty brick floor he skull cracked open and I had blood on my hands. I screamed. What did I do! I just killed an old lady! Then I felt the dread of a pair of eyes watching me. I slowly turned around, there was a tall boy about my age, he had giant beautiful bird wings. His eyes were huge with shock or fear. He immediately turned and ran away.
What did I just get myself into? I decided not to ever tell anyone about what I did and what I saw happen. I swore if I ever seen that tall bird boy that witnessed it all... I would make him promise to never tell anyone and if that didn't work, I'd just have to take problems in my own hands.
The next day I casually walked past the same alleyway I committed the crime in. I had to know if anyone had come back for the bodies. I glanced down the alley and was pleased that there was no trace of bodies or blood left. No one had come looking for me yet... thank Tellun.
I went to the market to buy some breakfast, the vendors were loud and the streets were crowded. I felt safe in the busyness of it all. Then I turned the corner and the same bird boy as the day before stood in front of a crowd. He was singing, I quietly approached and stood with the crowd of listeners.
---
There once was a boy with no morals...
He whitenessed a crime and then on a dime...
The boy took justice into his own hands...
Blood ran forth from the victim...
So with a great leap, the boy jumped to his feet and ran away from that dreadful scene...
---I listened to the bird boy's words as he sang, my mouth dropped open in shock but then I felt anger rise within me. How dare he sang about me! Once the boy finished everyone in the audience clapped, I fake clapped so I wouldn't look too suspicious. The boy bowed politely and the audience tossed coins into a jar as they left. The boy smiled and thanked them before picking the jar up and taking his leave. I decided I would talk with him. I walked up next to him, "I would appreciate it if you didn't sing about me," I growled.
The bird boy flinched at my words, "I sing about everyone... all the wrong that goes on in this city," he explained, "I sing about the bad."
