After making sure Ginny was well tended to, Fred and I made our way back to the Gryffindor common room. Everyone was still in their dormitories sleeping so Fred and I take advantage of our alone time. We cuddle on the couch, not leaving any space between us. “I love you, Guinevere Phoenix Mundt,” he coos in my ear as I nestle into his arms. “I love you too,” I whisper as I lean up to kiss him.

“This year has been complete madness,” I say softly to Fred. “I lose my parents; almost die from a homemade stinging jinx gone wrong… Let’s not forget being consumed by nightmares every night.” I feel hot tear stream down my face as I ache for my parents. It has been almost a whole year I think to myself. Fred wipes away the tears as he tightens his arms around me.

We sat in silence for the remainder of our time, both mentally exhausted from the days terrifying events. Soon the sun was shining through the windows and we knew the others would soon be waking up. “We better get a little bit of sleep,” I finally said standing up. He stood up as well, grabbing my hand and leading me towards the girl’s dormitory. “I don’t know if I will have another chance to tell you this, but I am really going to miss you this summer. And I want you to promise me you will write and tell me what you’re up too. I promise to return the favor.” Fred said with a glum expression. “You know I will be thinking about you all the time, and of course I will write. These two months will go by quicker than you think. You and George will be having so much fun.” I replied trying to cheer and up and not let the sadness in my heart show through my steel exterior. Fred smiled while leaning down to give me a gentle peck and watched me as I walked up to my room. As soon as I was out of sight, I let the misery engulf me. I plopped down in my bed and hid under the covers until I fell asleep.

The next few days came and went and soon we were on the train back home, or in my case, a new journey. I was nervous not knowing what my summer had in store, I knew it would be nothing compared to my peaceful nights sitting by the pond, playing guitar for the people who were like family. It was and will always be one of my fondest memories. That’s not what I wanted to focus on, instead I directed my attention to Fred, who I wanted to spend every last minute with before we would leave each other for what would inevitably seem like a lifetime.

I walked into the compartment behind Kay, who automatically sat on Georges lap and started to make out. “They aren’t wasting any time,” I laughed as I took my spot beside Fred, who grabbed my face and began kissing me. We made out for at least an hour before I pulled away complaining of sore lips. Fred grinned at me and pointed to Fred and Kay, who were still going at it. I shot back by pointing at Lee, who shot daggers at all of us. “Sorry, Lee.” I told him giving him a guilty smile. “You want to plan our reign of terror on Filch for year five?” I asked looking from Lee to Fred and who both nodded their approval.

By the time we reached King Cross Station, Lee, Fred and I had devised a years’ worth of pranks to make Filch’s life a living hell. “I almost feel sorry for him,” I giggled remembering our dungbomb prank. “Well,” Lee said thoughtfully, “I would have to agree if it wasn’t for the fact he landed us in fifty-two detentions in our short four years.” The whole compartment burst out in laughter, even George and Kay who were in mid kiss. “You keep track,” I mused poking Lee in the chest. “Well yea, that’s how many letters my mom wrote me telling me how much trouble I was in.” Once again the compartment burst in to laughter.

“Well we are here,” Kay said grabbing George’s hand, leading him outside. Lee followed them; however, Fred and I lingered behind. I had a question I had been burning to ask. “What happens if you meet another girl while we are away?” I asked trying to hide my self-consciousness. “Well, I will remember I have a beautiful girlfriend named Guinevere waiting for me back home.” Fred replied. I stood on my tip toes, lips hovering by his, “Nice answer,” I said as I planted my lips on his. We stood kissing for a few minutes when George walked back in, “moms waiting to talk to you, Guin,” George told me with a slight edge to his voice. The three of us made our way from the train back to the platform.
