**Guinevere’s POV**

I have been locked away in this basement for nearly a year. It has once again become the horribly cold place that I once knew I would die in, but now, Snape and I have devised a plan for my escape. Snape had actually found a very clever way to communicate with one another. He would, while in his study at Hogwarts, talk to me and I would tune in through my visions. At first I was skeptical, but it turned out to be a great idea.

Fenrir Greyback would be used to torture me starting Christmas Eve and if I did not comply, he would be ordered to kill me, which I’m sure would be to his great delight; however, Snape would imperius him to release me and I would steal his wand to apparate somewhere near the Burrow where I would reunite with the Weasley’s. The plan seemed to be successful because whenever I looked into the future, I would see Fenrir Greyback being punished and pushed back in the ranks of Death Eaters. Snape still seemed to hold deep respect within the ranks for ‘punishing’ Greyback. From what I could see, it was a win/win situation.

As the days leading to Christmas Eve came closer, I became weaker. Bellatrix was even more brutal than ever. After she left I could barely open my eyes. Not to mention the basement floor was frozen thanks to water leaks and the blistering cold. Until today, Christmas Eve, I spent my days trying to recover and prepare for my journey ahead.

I lay on my icy bed as Fenrir Greyback walks through the door grinning madly.

“Such a beautiful young girl.” He tells me touching my face with the end of his sharp, dirty finger nail. I cringe away in disgust. “You have been here a year and even Voldemort himself could not get you to spill your visions. What makes him think I can? I think I will just tell him you were stubborn so I can have you for myself.” He adds with his face inches from mine. I can smell blood and flesh in his rancid breath. My heart races and jumps in my chest as I pray Snape will show up on time. I am immobilized by fear as he opens his mouth to bite my throat out. Out of the corner of my eye I see Snape. Next thing I know I am being blow into the stone fall. My head hits the ground hard making my vision blurry. My body threatens to black out as I see Snape toss me Fenrir’s wand and mouth ‘go’ madly. With the last bit of energy I can muster, I apparate.

I land hard on the snowy ground. I am surrounded by dead trees and have no idea where I am. I fight to keep conscious as I feel blood trickle down my badly bruised face. I stumble around some trees trying to think of where I could be. Off in the distance I see a familiar statue so I walk unknowingly to it. Once I’m there I take a look in the frozen pond. Right then everything seems to slowly come back. ‘The Burrow, I made it.’ I tell myself stunned, trying to force my legs to move. I barely turn around when I collapse onto the pond, unconscious.

** George’s POV**

“One year ago today--.” I tell Ginny sadly as Ron and Harry gather a wreath to put by the pond in honor of Guin. “Do you mind if I take this out there myself?” I ask them shutting my eyes tightly, forcing myself to face reality. “I need to say my final goodbye.”

“Sure,” they say in unison looking sympathetic. I bundle up tightly in my jacket and grab the wreath. As I walk outside I make sure to scowl at Fred who is cuddled with Verity by the fire.

I walk slowly to Guin’s memorial, listening to the snow crunch beneath my feet. Once I’m at the pond I place the wreath around the statue and stare off at the pond.

“What the--.” I say slowly, looking at a pile of something lying on the pond. When I get closer I see it is an almost naked girl freezing to death, if not already frozen. I quickly take of my jacket and wrap her body tightly in it.

“DAD! DAD! BILL! HELP ME!” I scream trying to turn the poor girl’s lifeless, limp body towards me.  She is badly bruised with terrible cuts covering her body. Her eyes are swollen shut and she has ‘blood traitor’ written across various parts of her small, starved body.

“HELP ME!” I yell once again as I hear the door burst open and the entire Order hurdles over to me. By now I have the girl securely in my arms. I walk steadily to the group who is running towards me.

“George?” A very faint voice calls my name. The voice sounds so familiar. I look down at the girl I am carrying; her eyes are open to slits. “I love you too, George.” She tells me letting her eyes close again.

I stop dead in my tracks. “Guinevere?” I say looking at the girl, not believing it could possibly be her. Right then everyone catches up to me.

“What’s going on?” Dad pants as he looks in my arms.

“Good god! It’s a girl!” Remus screams in terror. I look past him and see Fred leaning against the house curiously, Verity hanging nervously on his arm.

“It’s Guinevere.” Ginny says flatly, totally and completely overcome with surprise. Everyone looks from her to me to the girl.

I suddenly regain myself and run past all the shocked faces and place Guinevere on the couch making sure that she is still safely wrapped in my jacket. A few minutes later, everyone else joins me, including Fred who obviously doesn’t know what is going on.

“Is she dead?” He asks horrified, looking at her badly mutilated body. Mum checks her pulse.

“Go grab blankets,” she orders and Tonks immediately leaves to grab some. “We need to get her warmed up and get some food in her or she will be. After that we can take care of all the bruises and cuts.” Mum is in complete control of the room that is until Guin looks up and mum and dad and whispers, “I love you guys.” After that mum completely loses it. Dad has tears rolling down his face as he touches her cheek.

“I thought we lost you. If we had known--.” He begins but is overcome with grief yet sincere happiness. Realization seems to slowly dawn on Fred, but I turn my attention back to Guin.

“I need to tell you something I should have told you long ago--.” I start. She smiles interrupting my thoughts. “I know, I saw.” She tells me trying to open her eyes once again. “And I love you too, George.”

As soon as she mumbles those words I am filled with complete bliss. I almost don’t notice Verity storm out the door after Fred falls to his knees.

I shut my eyes, thanking God for her and a second chance when I hear mum frantically cry out, “I think she’s dying!”

I open my eyes and in front of me is not the healthy misfit of a girl I fell in love with. In front of me is a broken girl whose body seems to be damaged beyond repair.

“Move aside.” Snape growls coming out of nowhere. He pushes me aside. From there we watch him mutter spells trying to save the life of Guinevere.
