I take one last look at Cedric’s room.  I inhale his smell for the last time. “Bye, Cedric. See you in the next life.” I say kissing my finger and holding it to the sky. A sense of acceptance runs down my body. All the grief and anger that had consumed for the last few months me seems to lift off my chest.

I walk down the stairs quietly, trying not to wake anyone. I am almost out of the door when I see a light flicker on.

“Headed out without saying goodbye?” Mr. Diggory asks quietly, shielding his wife’s sleeping body from the light as to not risk waking her up.

“How did you--?” I start to say but am interrupted. Mom, I think to myself. She’s so over cautious. She probably had them stake the place out.

“Your mom told us you are a runner. You can’t stay in one spot to long.” He says smiling. “But you’re of age and have every reason, probably more, to fight. I won’t hold you back. Go do what you need to do. Just make sure you to keep in touch.”

I nod getting more choked up by the second. “See you soon.” I reply walking out of the door. As soon I’m off the property, I apparate to headquarters. I walk through the front door and head up the stairs and go straight into Fred and George’s room. Both boys are soundly sleeping, or so it seems.

I crawl in bed beside Fred and wrap my arm around him. “Ginny, you’re not four anymore. You’re too old for me to protect from monsters.” Fred tells me wearily.

“What about protecting a full aged witch from scary visions?” I whisper is his ear. I hear his breath catch before he turns over to face me.

“You came back.” He says surprised. I look at him confused. “Nobody expected you to show up tomorrow. We all thought you would go off on your own.”

“I have thought about it. But it’s not the right time. It’s too early for me to leave.” I say rubbing my finger on the top of his hand soothingly.

“So you are going to leave eventually?” He asks frowning. “We have plans. We will have a joke shop to run for goodness sake.”

“Yes, I will have to leave eventually. I don’t know whether it will be by choice or force, but it will happen. And I know we have plans but I will never leave forever. I promise.” I tell him softly leaning into his lips. They touch briefly before he backs away.

“Does this war scare you?” Fred asks seriously. “Not everyone is going to make it out alive. If it’s anything like last time half of us in the Order will die. I don’t think I could handle it if was you.” Fred’s face contorts with pain. “I can’t bear to think about it.” I touch his face gently.

“I love you.” I tell him touching his lips. He gives me a half-hearted smile, I sigh. “If I die you will move on and learn to be happy, just as I am doing with Cedric.” I add nestling my face into his arm.

“Okay, I love hearing the lovey dovey conversation, but its three bloody am!” George says annoyed. Both Fred and I snicker at his slurred attempt at griping.

“Sorry, Georgie. I love you. Goodnight.” I tell him suppressing my giggles.

“Yea same here, Georgie.” Fred mimics. I can just imagine him giving George a sarcastic wink.

“Love you too, Guinie Pig. And shut the hell up Fred.” George replies half asleep. A few moments later we hear him snoring.

“We better catch some sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a super long day.” I tell Fred yawning.

“Long day?” He asks curiously, my yawn catching him.

“Yea, the ministry invading Hogwarts. We have to learn to sneak around this year. I mean even more than usual.” I tell Fred letting my heavy eyes close.

“Challenge accepted.” Is the last thing I hear before drifting off to sleep.
