**Fred’s POV**

The room is filled with nothing but the sound of snow hitting the icy roof. We all watch with expressions of horror and bated breath as Snape frantically mutters charms trying to save Guinevere’s life. Minutes that seem more like hours pass when he finally steps back from Guin’s body wiping sweat from his brow. His eyes focus on Guinevere and his expression is nothing short of determined. It makes me have a whole new respect for him.

A minute passes and nothing happens. Not a single breath can be heard although Snape looks extremely nervous seeing as how he is grinding his teeth and his eyes are nearly bugging out of his head. Suddenly, we hear a loud gasp of breath and Guinevere sits halfway up. Snape sinks into an armchair in relief. George puts both hands in his hair and falls to his knees sobbing. I realize I am on my knees as well. I look around for Verity and she isn’t anywhere to be seen.

I look back over to Guinevere who is looking straight at me, eyes glowing red. I crawl over to her and take her hand. I, for the first time, realize how frail and sick she looks. Both of her eyes are badly bruised and words are carved into her skin. Her once beautiful face has lost all of its innocent, youthful glow and healthy radiance. Now her cheeks are sunken and her skin is dull. I can’t bear to look at her so I lower my eyes, trying to hide my repulsion. She pulls her hand from mine and all I can see are her bony fingers and starved body structure. I can’t look at it anymore, so I stand up and walk away.

“I’m going to find Verity.” I say loudly waving goodbye to everyone. I risk a glace back and see my entire family scowling at me and Guinevere’s bright eye’s staring after me.

What am I doing, I ask myself as my legs carry me away.

**George’s POV**

“Get her cleaned up and in bed. Make sure she has plenty of covers. I’m going to make a Pepperup Potion and hopefully she will feel somewhat better.” Snape orders and informs me as he walks to our kitchen, conjuring his cauldron and some potion ingredients.

I immediately pick Guinevere up and climb up the stairs. Ginny and Bill follow me as I climb the stairs and walk into mine and Bills shared room. She could have Fred’s bed since he rarely stayed home with us anymore.

“Let’s get her into the tub, George.” Ginny tells me opening the bathroom door. I look at Guin who nods her approval. “Bill, go in the attic and get a pair of Guin’s old sweats and make up her bed.” Bill doesn’t even have the chance to speak before Ginny slams the door in his face.

Once inside the bathroom Ginny runs some warm water with lavender bubble bath. I undress her awkwardly and slip her into the tub. She’s extremely weak and cannot sit up herself so I hold her up.

“Let me do it.” Mum says trying to usher me out of the bathroom. I shake my head.

“I won’t leave her side.” I reply supporting Guin’s body as Ginny washes her hair. I glance back at mum who is giving me a halfhearted smile.

“Okay, well I’ll go see if Bill needs any help.” Mum says lightly, walking back out into the hall. I see Ginny grinning out of the corner of my eye and I try to hide my satisfaction.

After bathing Guin, Ginny and I dry her and dress her in some warm sweats.

“Thank you.” She tells Ginny and I in her hoarse voice. All I can do is smile lovingly back at her. She nestles her head into my arm just like old times as I carry her to our bedroom. In front of the bedroom door I see Fred sitting on the floor waiting for us.

“You get to do all the fun stuff.” Fred jokes standing up and opening the door for me.

“Stop, Fred. We all know why you left. You went with your fiancé and had ‘fun’ yourself to prove you didn’t love me. We all know I saw everything while I was away so stop pretending things are normal because they never will be again. Go back to her; like you told her, I could never make you as happy as she does.” Guinevere tells Fred weakly. She doesn’t seem at all bitter by this news, maybe she had gotten used to the idea. Her voice is completely understanding and sincere which is why Fred looks as though someone has torn his soul out.
