I almost forgot about the fight between Fred and Percy that night after the feast when he caught us kissing, but I soon remembered. Weeks went by and Fred and Percy didn’t so much as acknowledge each other’s existence. Percy gave me pleading looks in the hall and common room but before I could pull him aside and explain, Fred would always come up behind me and pull me away. I didn’t want to mess up what Fred and I had, so I went along with it.

More weeks went by and before we all knew it, it was Halloween. During lunch that afternoon I came up with the most brilliant idea. Fred and George had extra dungbombs so I told them I needed some and I snuck into his Filch’s office. I placed one in each one of his shoes knowing he would change before that nights Halloween feast. He did a little sooner than anticipated. I hid under his bed while he changed making sure not to breath. Ten minutes later he was dressed and before he walked out of the door I heard him complain of an unknown stench.

“I’m proud of my new found sneakiness,” I said between giggles as I ran out of Filch’s office and into Fred’s arms.

“Wow that was close! How the hell did he not catch you?” George asked looking completely stunned.

“I hid under his bed.” I replied shuddering as I pulled him and Fred away from the crime scene. “This is great!” I exclaimed extremely proud of myself. The three of us headed to Herbology to giddy to think about our double potions later in the day.

“We heard him complaining about us students smelling like dung.” Lee told us stifling a laugh as we headed out of our double potions class. The three boys each took turns smacking my butt yelling, “Good game.”

“You guys are enjoying this too much!” I accused pouting.

“Maybe I was,” the three said in unison. George and Lee looked Fred with guilty expressions. Fred glared at the two. His expression gave “if looks could kill,” a whole new meaning. The tension lasted all the way into the Great Hall. As we waited for the feast to begin, Filch walked by complaining of this horrible smell that he couldn’t escape. We all had a good laugh about it during the feast. It was delicious as always. We headed back up to the Gryffindor common room but our path was blocked.

You will be next, mudbloods.” A shrill, ignorant voice stated. I pushed through the dense crown of students and made my way to the front. Draco Malfoy was pointing at Hermione. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw what Hermione was looking it. Filch’s cat was hanging on the wall by its tail. It wasn’t moving and looked dead. Just below the cat was writing, “The chamber of secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware.” It was written in blood. Fred and George walked up behind me and put their arms protectively around me while pulling me away from the scene.

“I feel bad for putting the dungbombs in his shoes,” I muttered in a dazed trance. When we got in back in the common room I turned to each boy and kissed them both on the cheek. “I’m going to bed,” I told them as they looked back at me helplessly, clearly lost for words.

My dormitory was deserted except for Ginny who was sitting on my bed. Her eyes were red rimmed and she was furiously shaking. “Are you ok, Gin?” I asked as I sat beside her. She began sobbing again but finally pulled herself together.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” Ginny told me wiping her eyes. “I just don’t want to be alone.” I scooted down on my bed and laid down, patting the spot beside me. She followed my lead and cuddled close next to me.

“So have you stopped with the nightmares,” she asked yawing.”

“I don’t know what you mean,” I replied yawning as well. She glared at me. “You made me yawn,” I added trying to change the subject.
