“Dad!” Fred exclaimed after a few long minutes of complete silence. Both Fred and Mr. Weasley had a look of sheer horror etched across their face. I squirmed uneasily waiting for the shouting to commence, but it never came. Both parties were too shocked for words.
“What’s going on?” A curious Mrs. Weasley asked placing her hand on the stunned Mr. Weasley. Both Fred and Mr. Weasley struggled to make their expressions look normal and recover from their shock.
“Nn-Nothing, dear. I was just telling Guinevere that she needed to hurry and get a shower so we can leave. Harry is probably still asleep but we need to meet him before he wakes.” Mr. Weasley said as he walked back to the house. I was completely relieved he didn’t tell Mrs. Weasley. Her temper was horrible and I didn’t want to feel her wrath.
“It’s got to be well past mid-night,” George said lightly. Fred and I whirled around. I suddenly realized he was right. The Burrow was so beautiful at night. The crickets sang and the water from the pond lightly splashed as its inhabitants came to life. Fred interrupted this thought, “How long have you been here, George?” “Long enough,” George shrugged. “It’s not like you wouldn’t have told me anyways.” He was right, of course.
“Well I better go finish getting ready before your dad murders us.” I told the boys prancing back to the Burrow in enormously good, yet nervous, spirits. I hurried through the shower, dressing and beautifying myself before I came to meet the family. I had outgrown all of my school clothes so I was forced to wear a tank top that hugged my curves and tight fitting jeans.
When I made it down the stairs, everybody was sitting on the couch waiting on me. Mrs. Weasley immediately handed me some Floo Powder and I stepped in the fireplace and shouted “the Leaky Cauldron!” I was spinning though space until I reached my destination. I stepped out of the Fireplace coughing up soot. A few minutes later Percy appeared followed by, Ron, Ginny, George, Fred, Mrs. Weasley, and then Mr. Weasley.
We were greeted by Tom, the innkeeper, who sat us at a table and took our orders for breakfast. Ron sat beside me showing off a picture of the family in Egypt. He talked animatedly about the tombs and all their adventures until he was silenced by Hermione who seemed to appear out of nowhere. They had barely greeted one another when Hermione’s new cat attacked Ron’s rat. That led to nothing but annoying arguments. It was a relief when Harry finally came down to join us. He had no idea what he had saved the rest us from.
Mr. Weasley and Ginny went out to start shopping while the rest of us stayed behind to pack up and get ready to leave. I gulped down my orange juice as I ran after them, but it was too late. They had already disappeared into Diagon Ally. I stood gazing at a brick wall. I had no idea how to get in. Someone else had always done it for me. I felt stupid for never taking the time to learn how to do it myself. I turned to go back to find Mr. Weasley when I ran into someone, nearly falling over. He grabbed my arms and pulled me to my feet. I looked up in thanks to a boy who was a foot taller, with wavy brown hair and small hazel eyes. He had a strong jawline and was quite muscular. Gorgeous was one way of putting it. I could feel the butterflies erupt in my stomach when he beamed down at me.
“Nothing like catching a pretty girl first thing in the morning,” he told me laughing at my bewildered expression. I just stood there, gaping. Nothing logical was coming to my brain. Well, except that he was gorgeous. Oh and to never tell Fred. “I’m Cedric, Cedric Diggory.” He added after a few more moments. I took his outstretched hand and shook it, recovering from my momentary lapse of existence.
“I’m Guinevere, Guinevere Phoenix Mundt.” I said putting my best grin forward yet shifting uneasily.
“I don’t think I have seen you before. What house are you in? I am in Hufflepuff. I am a prefect and the team seeker, a sixth year.” He asked and informed me while still smiling and running his hands through his hair. I shuddered.
