Your knew you were one huge mess. You knew that. You knew that your parents' death was your fault because you couldn't get there fast enough and you knew that the boys only took you in because you were a shitty hunter. They wouldn't admit it, but you knew that's exactly what they thought. Sam and Dean liked you sticking to research and it made you feel more inadequate when they did, but you weren't going to let them know that. You appreciated them so much and you didn't want them being upset with you because then they might kick you out. But you still hated doing research, despite what they thought.

So there you were, sitting in the motel room with a million books on the table in front of you. The boys were hunting a poltergeist and you had to find out what killed them. Every single book you had read so far was about ghosts, which were killed in a totally different way than poltergeists were. Ghosts, either needed their bones burned or the object they were attached to burned to be killed and poltergeists...well, you hadn't gotten that far yet. After a few more books, you heard the door of the room open and Sam, Dean, and Cas walked in with food. Sam came over to you and gave you a bag and you replied with a tiny, fake smile.

"Did you find anything yet," Dean asked as you slowly shook your head.

"B-but I've been looking. I just can't seem to find the right book," you confessed as you ate a fry from your bag. He nodded and sat down. You could sense disappoint from all three men, causing you to feel more self conscious. You picked up a dark blue book and skimmed the pages hoping to find something on poltergeists. Once you found a section on them, you read through it with immense concentration, hoping to find the answer to the question you've been asking yourself for the past  hour. As you read, you stumbled upon ways that you could ward off a poltergeist, but nothing that could kill them. You slammed the book shut, pushing it off the pile of useless books as you picked up another one. You skimmed through, finally finding what you were looking for.

" 'To banish a poltergeist, you need to place a mixture of herbs in all 4 corners of the home.' Yeah, but what kind of herbs," you whispered as the boys looked at you, hoping you could find the answer for them. "Ah! Here it is! Rosemary, Juniper, Basil, Osha, and Copal."

"Well, where the hell are we going to find that," said Dean with half a cheeseburger in his mouth. Castiel zapped out and came back moments later with all of the herbs we needed. After cutting up the exact amount they needed, the boys left. You sat in the lonely motel room by yourself as you scrolled through your phone. You felt like you were going to cry. Why didn't they want you going with them? You doubted it was for your safety; they knew you were able to handle yourself. They were probably scared you were going to fuck up. You didn't notice you were crying until you saw the tears dropping onto the bed sheets, making them wet. You also didn't notice the boys had come back until you felt someone tap your shoulder.

"(Y/N), are you alright," Cas said as you nodded wiping your eyes.

"I can tell you're not okay, kiddo," Dean said as he hugged you. "Tell us the truth."

"I...I'm a complete disappointment to you guys," you said barely above a whisper. Suddenly, you felt two more pairs of arms around you as you sobbed into Dean's shoulder.

"Now, who told you that," Dean said as they all pulled away. You looked down and shrugged your shoulders.

"There's nothing wrong with you. You mean the world to us, (Y/N)," Cas said as he rubbed my shoulder.

"Are you sure?" The thought of the boys lying to about caring was enough to give you a panic attack. They were all you had left and what if one day they just decided that they had enough?

"Why wouldn't we be," Sam said from next to you. "We love you. Even if you don't think you're amazing, we do. We were actually coming back to ask you to come on the hunt with us."

"R-really? You're not scared I'm going to mess up?"

"We know you won't! Now get your shit and lets go kill some poltergeists," Dean yelled as you smiled and grabbed your things, ready to help fight evil.
