It was very lonely in the bunker whenever Sam and Dean left for a hunt. Sam was very strict when it came to what hunts you could and couldn't go on. God, did that piss you off. Most of the time, he was unsuccessful in leaving you home, but other times, like this one, he was able to convince you to stay at the bunker. You felt as if you had nothing to do, spending your days pacing the humongous library and cleaning your guns.
One day, you decided you were going to go to town and just wander. You hopped into your truck, revving up the engine, and heading off. After parking your car at a diner, you walked the roads aimlessly, taking small glances at different storefronts. Suddenly, you stopped in front of a pet store after seeing a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy looking at you from the window. The small puppy began to wag its tail as you entered the store, eager to pet its soft fur. You walked over to the pen where it was held and knelt in front of the cage, smiling and laughing as the puppy tried desperately to get to you.
"Would you like to hold her," said the store clerk as she noticed your entrancement. You nodded, not being able to contain your smile. As soon as the puppy's feet hit the floor, she was racing over to you and cuddling up under your arm. She licked your face relentlessly, seeming to get joy out of the smile you had plastered on it.
"Her name's Lilly. We rescued her and a few of her siblings a couple of weeks ago. She's the only one left if you want to take her." You thought for a second. You knew Sam would be happy, but Dean would be very mad. Like never-speaking-to-you-again mad. You shrugged it off, knowing he'd get over it. You stood up, Lilly still in your arms, as you nodded.
"I would love to take her." You walked around the store with Lilly, getting the things you needed for her to be comfortable at the bunker. Once the clerk rang you up, you walked out of the store with a new responsibility. You placed Lilly in your passengers' seat and hopped into your side of the car, rolling the window down a tiny bit so that she would have some air hitting her.
You pulled into the bunker's garage, seeing that the boys had yet to come home from their hunt. You heard your phone start buzzing in your pocket and you knew Lilly knew it, too, since she started barking insanely loud. You shushed her as you answered the phone, relieved to hear Sam on the other end.
"Hey, (Y/N). We're just now finishing up and we should be home by tomorrow morning. Whatcha up to," Sam said as you heard Led Zeppelin playing in the background, no doubt because of Dean.
"I went into to town to kill some time. I have a surprise for when you get home, by the way." He chuckled and you were able to hear his smile. You climbed out of the car with Lilly trailing behind you as you held the phone to your ear.
"Can't wait to hear about it. Can you give me a hint," Sam said as you heard Dean say something about 'there better being pie left when he gets back.' You heard a soft thump and a tiny 'ow' as you chuckled and unlocked the bunker door, letting her roam around and get used to her surroundings.
"You're just gonna have to wait 'till you get home mister." You heard him dramatically sigh and you let out a tiny laugh as Lilly bumped into a chair leg.
"Alright. I love you, baby," Sam said. You smiled, softly.
"I love you, too." You hung up and went to set everything up for your new puppy.
-----------------------------------------------------THE NEXT DAY--------------------------------------------------------
You were in the kitchen, making yourself breakfast, when you heard the rumble of the Impala. Lilly heard it too because you heard the tiny jingle of her new collar as she raced out of your bedroom to meet you. You patted her head as you fed her some of her kibble, flipping the bacon as soon as you were done so it wouldn't burn. The door opened as they walked in and Lilly continued to scarf down her food.
"(Y/N), I'm home," Sam yelled as you heard him set his weapon bag down on the library table. You heard his loud footsteps as he walked into the kitchen, spotting you and coming over to kiss you. He bet down to reach your lips, as a smile grew on his own. He lips connected to yours for a second and then he leaned his forehead on yours. "Hi."
"Hey, baby," you said as Dean walked through, nearly tripping over Lilly. He scoffed as he looked down a spotted the tiny dog.
"Son of a bitch. (Y/N), really?" Dean leant down to get a good look at Lilly and she began to bark happily licking Dean's hands. He pulled away, disgusted, as Sam rushed over to play on the kitchen floor with the new puppy. He laughed and looked at you with a huge smile on his face.
"Was this the surprise," he asked hopefully as Lilly licked his face, clearly very excited to have more people in her humongous new home. Dean looked at you with anger as he grabbed his pie out of the fridge and proceeded to walk into the library with it in his hands. You nodded as you took your plate of food to the island, munching on it as you watched your boyfriend and Lilly play.
"Her name's Lilly," you mentioned as she went back to eating the last of her food before going back to Sam. He pried her off of him, walking over to you and planting a kiss to your forehead.
"Thank you. I love you," Sam said as he looked into your eyes. You leaned up and kissed him on the cheek.
"Your welcome. I love you, too. Dean'll get used to her." Sam nodded his head.
"You bet your ass he will," Sam said as he grabbed Lilly into his arms and you all went into the library to bug Dean some more.
