Plot: You're a lone hunter who's gone through a lot. Sam has just lost his brother and is struggling. What happens when he found a hunt in your neighborhood and you're already on it? Will Sam fall for you?

Based off the song 'Safety Pin' by 5 Seconds of Summer

I stretched my arms over my head as I sat up off the stiff motel bed. I checked the time and shot up, quickly running to take a shower. I was supposed to meet (Y/N) at the small cafe at around 9 and it was already 8:30. I grabbed a heavy flannel, knowing that I would rush out the door and possibly forget my coat. I slipped on my boots and ran out the door, leaving at 8:40. I hopped into the Impala, taking off towards the small town.

You walked down the street while the snow cascaded around you. Despite it only being a 2 minute walk from your parents' old house, you were an icicle by the time you arrived at Harlow's. As you were walking up, you saw a '67 Impala pull up with Sam sitting inside. He parked it at the curb and you continued to admire the car's mint condition.

"You like it, huh? It's, uh, m-my brother's," Sam said rubbing the back of his neck with a soft smile on his face. You nodded, smiling back. "So, how about this case?" He held the door open for you as you thanked him and walked in. Harlow waved and grabbed you both a bagel and a coffee. You attempted to give him money, but he shook his head.

"You give me enough business, (Y/N). Don't worry." You sighed, putting away your money and Sam pulled his out. He place a $20 on the table, saying that he didn't need the change back.

We went and sat at the table by the window, like we did yesterday. She seemed a little closed off today, probably nervous about the hunt. She had mentioned that this would be her first big hunt, only ever doing research for other hunters. I, however, had a lot of faith in her and her ability to hunt.

"So, I think it could be a vengeful spirit," (Y/N) whispered as she took a sip of her coffee. "I mean, there are obvious patterns. All female, all newly married, all in the same town." I nodded, silently agreeing with her. (Y/N) smiled widely at me and continued to munch on her bagel.

"What time do you want to head out tonight?" You finished off your bagel and wiped your hands on your napkin.

"Don't you think we should see who might be targeted next? So we can, like, actually catch this thing," Sam asked looking solemnly up from his laptop with one eyebrow askew. You averted your gaze, nibbling on your bottom lip out of habit. Now you were nervous. What if he didn't think you were good enough? Suddenly, Sam cleared his throat, pointing outside it a moving truck. "Looks like a new couple is moving in. Why don't we go see who they are? Maybe they're newlyweds and we can use them as some sort of bait or whatever."

Her eyes sparkled as she looked out the window. She seemed scared, nervous even. (Y/N) looked back it me with a tiny smile and jumped down from the high chair. She waved towards Harlow, (or at least that's what she said his name was), and opened the door. I followed behind her, thanking the man as well.

"Do you guys need any help moving things in," (Y/N) asked as she approached the couple. She stretched her hand out to shake theirs, taking a box from the truck and walking inside. I repeated her actions, introducing myself once we got inside.

"So what brings you guys to a small town like this?" You dropped the box where Casey, the wife, had told you to.

"We just got married and we decided we wanted to move away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You know, somewhere to raise our daughter. We also heard the school district was rather good and we wanted her to grow up somewhere nice." Casey pointed to the carseat with the small baby inside of it. You smiled and nodded as Sam and Casey's husband, Dan, brought in more boxes.
