"Lucy, get your ass down here right now!"
"Never!"
"God. It's late!"
I twist in bed trying to block out the incessant noise of my mother. "I swear to god Lucy! Move it or be moved!"
"Agh!" I cry in fake agony, loud enough so that my mom can hear me.
"That's it! You are getting out of bed! Remember that you were warned!" My mom yells one final time before I hear her bust my door open and angrily step towards my bed.
She pulls the covers down, making me cower and snuggle closer into myself. A second later she pulls my arm out of my fetus position and drags me out of bed. Out of bed meaning on the floor with a loud thud.
"You were a mistake," I hear my mom whisper before she walks off back to the kitchen.
"You are satan!" I yell back, with emphasis on satan.
"Thanks for the compliment!" I can feel my mom smirking, "Now go get dressed."
"You are evil," I say, not loud enough for her to hear.
"Lucy? You better be awake!" My mom screams yet again.
"I am!" I yell back.
I roll out of bed. A heavy step warns any enemy of where I am. Not that I have enemies in my house, but you know, imagery.
What's today? Right, day 6,305 of being single. Kidding. Today is my mother's birthday.
And it started off rough.
I get ready quickly and run downstairs.
"Happy Birthday!" I yell in her face.
I hug her tightly, not letting go for at least a minute.
"Thank you, Lucy."
I smile at her and pull away.
"Is James coming over for my birthday dinner tomorrow?"
James always comes over with a wonderful present that outdoes mine. He's basically a part of the family. When I say my mom loves James, she loves James.
James was the one that introduced me to Stef. James was the only person I trusted with everything. He knows things Stef doesn't. James was the one that helped me fit into a group of friends when I basically had none.
More like had none. Period.
"Of course. He wouldn't miss it!" I beam.
"That's great! Too bad your father is on a business trip."
"I love that we change your birthday dinner to fit James' schedule but not my father's," I point out to her.
"I wonder why."
"Yeah, weird."
She shrugs, "James just has that affect on people."
"Or you just like him better than your own daughter," I expose her.
"I could never," She gasps.
"No one likes a liar."
"I'm not lying."
Sure. Everyone loves James.
I shrug and take my plate for breakfast. My mom made pancakes, you know she's in a good mood. Pancakes are only made when mother dear is happy.

"Alex! Ethan! Wait up!" I yell towards the couple walking a few feet in front.
"Look who it is: Miss make things awkward," Alex smiles, slightly evilly.
"I am so done with all these 'look who it is' jokes. I don't think I can take having so many fake identities," I fake stress and tiredness, dramatically placing my hand on my forehead.
"Your struggle is real man," Ethan laughs.
"Shut up, dumbass. God, what happened to the nice people I called friends?" I question to no one in particular but make sure to give them a glare.
"We were never nice to begin with. This is all your fault," Alex admits.
"Blame the minority, why don't ya?" I exasperate.
"Gladly," Ethan says and Alex winks right after, completing the comeback.
"Weird," I whisper just loud enough for them to hear and then walk past them to my class.
Oh math, the love hate relationship we have had always meant so much to me. I have three words for you: Fuck this shit. I sit down in the back, as usual, waiting for James. This is the only class where it's just him and me.
When he walks in a tense air fills the room. He looks back and sees me. I smile lightly and put my phone down and cross my arms on the desk, ready to start conversation.
"James! Question bud," I guy yells from across the room.
I whip my head in the direction of the noise. It was Ryan, a non-mutual friend of James'. I turn back to see James walking towards him, relaxed. Once he's close enough he lets his bag drop and sits down in the empty seat beside him. They begin talking but I'm too far away to hear anything.
Slumping back in my seat I grab my phone and pretend to be deep in conversation via text. My act was stopped by someone grabbing it out of my hands, "Wow, intense convo you have going on there, your lock screen must have a lot to say."
I look up, flabbergasted by the idiot who decided to ruin what I had going. I was internally fighting with my phone about whose penis was bigger. It was just getting interesting too! How dare he do such a thing.
I see who it was that interrupted me as it wasn't James since the voice didn't match. He was pretty attractive, with piercing green orbs and curly dirty blond hair.
"Don't judge me," I huff and cross my arms.
"No need for the sass," He responds, smiling.
I extend my arm out, "Can I have my phone back? I need to finish the heated argument I was in."
"Sure, but only if you tell me what you and your lock screen were fighting about," He pulls the phone slightly farther away from me.
"Wouldn't you like to know," I smile mischievously.
"I would," He bluntly responds, still in a fun manner.
"Penis sizes," I whisper, lowering my arm.
"I can help with that," this new guy says as he swiftly sits down and sets my phone in front of me.
Looking at him like he's crazy he begins talking again, "See that kid?"
I look to where he's pointing. It's Josh, a football player. "Smallest one in the whole school probably."
I laugh and nod, letting him keep going. "Nerd alert at the front, bigger than average. Scratch that, way bigger than average."
"I need to get to know him!" I exclaim.
My nameless bud chuckles and looks at me with a teasing frown, "Let me finish, then you can decide."
"Whatever," I shrug.
"Stoner boys to the right," he points to where James is siting, "Erectile dysfunction is in their future."
"I can't work with that. A girl needs her action," I laugh and look front again ready for him to point out another guy.
"Now this guy may be average but boy does he have a personality," He says.
I look at him and realize that he's pointing to himself. A cheeky smile plays on his lips and then he starts laughing when realization shows on my face.
"I'm Edward," says the boy, smiling even wider than before.
