"Home alone, you should save a girl from loneliness."
"What about the rest of the peeps?"
"Busy dating and whatnot," I sighed through to phone.
"Call me your knight in shining armor," He laughed.
"My hero," I giggled.
Giggled? Am I 5? Probably on the inside.
"I'll be there in 10."
"Sweet! Use the window," I reminded him.
"Wow, am I you're dirty little secret?" the smirk in his tone was obvious.
"Fuck you."
James just laughed.
I tried my best to be mad at him, "Shut up," But it didn't last, "See ya in 10."
"You got that right."
I changed into a pair of sweats and a tank. Simple, casual. It could be hot, but that only works if your hot to begin with. I'm ugly, like a burnt chicken nugget.
I opened my window a while later so James could easily climb in.
"Ding dong," He said as he entered.
"Right on time."
"I'm a punctual man."
As I took in his appearance I noticed we wore the same sweats. On further thought, I realized we both wore his sweats. He left these here a while back to make sure he would always have a change of clothes. This brilliant idea came to him when I decided to dump a bucket of water on him when he fell asleep the last time we had our couples cult party.
"Great minds think alike," He smiled.
"More like we're lazy," I laughed.
That's it. That's the joke.
I walked to my bed and called him over to get in with me. "Get in, bitch. We're watching movies."
James chuckled and walked over. Sliding in on the left. Always on the left. He said the atmosphere felt better on the left. That his right hand, his dominant one, should always be in the middle. Something about precision?
"Why is your bed so soft?" He asked as he sunk in.
"Because mine isn't a slab of wood like yours," I insulted.
"Rude, my bed is fine."
"Sure, Mr-I-have-back-pain," I mocked him.
"Just play the movie."
I leaned over and grabbed the remote off the night stand on my side of the bed. I pressed play to an already chosen movie and snuggled deeper into the covers. "What is this?" James whispered.
"Two Night Stand."
"Sounds lame."
"Lame but entertaining," I corrected.
