"What's up with you?"

"Chase."

"Okay, and?"

"He's just so cute," Stef gushes.

"You mean, he's pretty," I give her a sly smile.

She rolls her eyes at me and laughs, "You're never going to live that joke down."

"Nope."

Stef walks up to her locker and opens it up. She stars rumbling through and getting the stuff she needs for the day. I lean beside her and wait for her to collect everything.

My phone buzzes and I give it a peak. I visibly shrug my shoulders at the text. Like they could even see me, they texted for a reason.

"Ready."

I shift my attention back to Stef and put my phone away. The text left unanswered.

"So, I'm gonna go to the bathroom," I say to Stef when we get to our history classroom, "Catch ya later."

She nods and walks on in. I turn around and rush out the school.

Catch ya real later.

"You came! I thought you wouldn't."

"Because I didn't answer your text? Yeah, sorry about that."

James shrugs his shoulders and gives me a side hug. Wow, you never realize how weird hugs in cars are.

"So, why did I have to skip for you?"

"Because," James smiles mischievously, "Your parents called."

My face falls. My parents did what now? I'm dead, someone call the morgue.

"Lucy, your face."

I slap his arm, "This is serious. What'd they want?"

"They're coming back today, you know, how they were gone?"

I am the dumbest person on this planet.

"Oh my god, my parents!" I look at James with fear, "I forgot about them!"

"Yeah, you did," He laughs.

"Don't laugh," I hit his arm, "I was supposed to pick them up."

"That's what we're doing."

"Because they had to call you, cause I'm a dumbass."

"My dumbass."

I roll my eyes and smile at the stupid comment. How is it that the simplest things make me turn to mush? That wasn't even nice, he still called me a dumbass, but now I was his dumbass. I'm officially losing it.

"Okay, drive!"

James laughs and starts the GPS so he can make it to the airport safely. It was a 30 minute drive, so I got comfy and plugged my phone into the aux. But that also means I have to suffer through 30 minutes of my parents, James, and I in a car. For all that is holy, kill me now.

"This is gonna be awkward," I randomly speak my thoughts.

"Which part?"

"The part where we have to drive back with my parents in the car. What part were you think of?"

"The one where they realize we're dating."

"Great."

"Can it really be that bad?"

Oh, it could be so much worse than bad.
