"Hurry up Lucy!"
"Would you chill."
We're currently running through the halls to get to our table in the cafeteria. When we make it, we slide into our booth we've always sat at. The third booth, shaped like an odd circle, right in the middle of the cafeteria. We were the type of group that liked to spy on others. Not that we're stalkers or anything, I swear we're normal. Normal, I say.
"Home sweet home," I state as I let myself relax into my usually seat.
On the right, with one seat beside me for James. He should be here any second now. He's always here after me, he doesn't really believe in the invention of time when it comes to food and leisure time.
The rest of our cult comes rolling in; Ethan and Alex holding hands, Grace and Timothy side by side, and finally James. Always the last one to show up. He really should get a watch. But who am I to tell him how he should spend his time.
To make things clear: Ethan and Alex are the old married couple of the group. Timothy and Grace are also dating, weird combination those two. Stefanie is with Zach, although he doesn't go to our school. Then there's James, poor guy is hot but is single. A single pringle just like me.
Now me, I'm the wingwoman to all my lady friends. I got them their man, yet I can't get myself one. I just don't attract the male sex or anything, really.
"Lucy, bro, how you doin'?" James says as he slides in beside me.
"James, bro, fine as pudding," I reply to James.
"Pudding?" James gives me a funny look as I just shrug my shoulders and take out my lunch.
"Excuse me, attention please," Stef interrupts any conversation going on, "Your girl has got herself a date."
I smile when she tells everyone what I already know. We stayed up till 1:30 talking about how she was so nervous. Although, I don't know why, she's been with Zach for two months now. It was a crazy time when they were still trying to figure out to figure out to their feelings for each other. But if I'm gonna be honest, there still some unspoken and unresolved feelings in there. It's not my place to say anything, I have to let fate take its course.
Honeymoon phase, ya know? No? Me neither.
"Congrats girl, look at you actually going out and doing relationship things," Grace smiles to Stef while nudging Timothy who is in a separate conversation with Ethan.
Timothy doesn't even react to Grace nudging him until her fist makes some nice forceful contact with his arm. All he does though is give her a side hug and say, "I felt you the first couple times," before returning to his conversation with Ethan.
They were going on and on about some new video game that was coming out. You know how boys be, always on and on about video games and girls and hormones and whatnot. The usual guy talk I have no idea about. I like avoiding such weird topics.
"Oh umm, yes. Get some," Timothy reacts to the conversation with Stef as well.
"We'll kick his balls if he doesn't treat you right, right guys?" Ethan looks around the table and the guys nod agreeing.
"Guys, you do realize this is like our 20th date?" Stef laughs at the conversation that's unfolding.
"We gotta act like every date is the first. We never know when he'll go rogue."
He's prone to stupid.
We continue eating lunch, having conversations amongst ourselves. Except James, he talked some but was mainly engaged with his phone. Those damn cellphones, ruining the generation. Ruining the face-to-face contact we all truly need. But no, screens are better.
